One thing I haven't done yet is broadcast the invitation to my mailing list. But I think I will send out a "Professional Storyteller" Alert... inviting pro tellers and then invite promotors and interested parties to go "look at the pages." Do you think this falls within the mission of our PS Community?
I am surprised that you haven't announced this site through your mailing list yet. Is this list different than your emailing list?
The strongest response to invites is if you call and talk to the intended person and then say, "By the way, I will email you the link. . .I look forward to seeing you on the site." Sometimes, the person has access to the Internet while on the phone so you can talk them through it.
Why limit this site to storytellers? I am seeing other arts joining us and we can learn from each other. Keep your mind open as you invite.
Why put a cap on it? But let's have a "board meeting" and come up with a monthly goal. We reached 175 by my return March 20 - our goal was 200. I think we did exceedingly well. I am hoping to see some of my overseas friends join as well. Let's keep growin!
I first heard about this site at the monthly meeting of Timp Telllers, the Utah Valley chapter of the Utah Storytelling Guild. Then, when I went the the USG conference yesterday, Rachel Hedman was there to help us all sign up! Though I'm not shy about being on stage (it's been 20+ years since I've performed in front of an audience), I'm still brand new to the telling of stories. I look forward to just having fun telling and to be as entertaining as possible!
I have been attending the Timponogus (sp) story telling festible in Utah off and on for years. I finially decided to give it a shot. I told my first story last night and the audience was very kind.
Next time will be just a tad easier, you'll breathe a bit more normally, you'll still be perhaps a bit terrified, but a slightly more comfortable level of terror.
It is exciting - and fulfilling - Go Forth and Tell!
