Share a Story - Change the World

Is Facebook working for your Storytelling business? Would you like it to?

Facebook can be fun. It can also be a time waster. It's a great way to connect. But are you using if effectively to promote yourself as a storyteller?

Earlier this year I travelled two thousand miles away to perform in a Fringe Festival. There was no guarantee that I would get my investment back, seeing as I had six nights to fill a 50 seat theatre, and I knew a total of 5 people in town. (And only 3 of them could make it to the show)

One of them was Ellouise Schoettler, who was also performing in the same Festival. I was impressed--not only with Ellouise' storytelling, which combined personal memoir with American political history-- but at how she used Twitter and Facebook to promote her show. (She connected me, via Facebook, to other performers and interested audience members in the area, so word about my show could get out.)

Facebook did help me fill a few seats. But I could tell that Ellouise had a well thought out strategy to maximize how she got the word out about her show. (There were more than 130 acts in the Capital Fringe Festival, all competing for audiences. Surprisingly, Ellouise was one of the very few acts that used social media to promote their shows.)

Now, Ellouise and her social media coach, Robin Fox, will share their techniques in an online workshop on how you can use Facebook to promote your storytelling business.

I don't have any financial interest in this workshop. I'm just passing along the info, because if you were to ask me, "who in the storytelling world knows how to use Facebook to get audiences?"-- Ellouise is one of the people I would point you to.

Cheers Tim!

I've just started exploring Facebook ads for promoting a UK based club. Can't attend the workshops - time zones wrong, but will try and connect with Ellouise sometime.
