Share a Story - Change the World

Dear storytellers,

A fake member under the username of "Kate Kwame" (http://professionalstoryteller.ning.com/profile/KATEKWAME?xg_source...)

has recently joined and is trying to scam us. This is the original message they posted/commented on my profile:

Good Day,

How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and
deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you,
but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get
back to me on:( katekwame@yahoo.com ) for the full details.

Have a nice day

Thanks God bless.

Mrs Kate.

It sounded fishy, but just in case I responded, and of course, they want to split 5million dollars with me that belong to a supposed deceased man with my last name.

It's ridiculously obvious, but just in case someone out there is not familiar with online scams, please beware, and Administrators, please block this fake member.

Thank you, and keep up the stories!  (Try to make them better than this one, though! :P)

This is indeed a classic scam.  She has been blocked.  In her case, she took the trouble in her application to say all the things typical of a storyteller.  She was indeed a storyteller, but the type matching con workers.  Any time members notice this or even what might be scammers, please notify Don "Buck" Creacy &/or me. (Emailing off the list here in such a case is not advised -- insist that messages here are private if sent directly between members.)  We try to screen applications first, but it's impossible to catch some.

It's a big bad world when it comes to scammers.  Let us know of possible problems.
