A ship was sailing across the seas to distant lands. The sailors and merchants had lost their way and were wandering aimlessly at sea, tired, hungry and thirsty, confined to the ship....So are we in this world like that ship sailing on the high seas. Like a lost ship at sea, we are unsure of our direction and know not to whom to turn or where we are going. In this world, which resembles such a sea, we discover a large island with all kinds of delights and pleasures, more than one can ever count.

Sometimes we forget some of our most basic stories like the creation of the perfect woman as told from the Jewish Scriptures...

G-d cast a deep trance upon the man, and he slept. He took one of his ribs, and closed the flesh in its place..:. G-d built the rib that He took from the man into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

Everything is influenced by the source from which it was created. G-d therefore arranged things so the woman was not created from any place that would have an adverse influence because he wanted her to be perfect.

He said:

“If I create her from the head, she will be lightheaded and frivolous.

If I create her from the eyes, she will be overly curious. She will sit by the window, with her eyes wide open so as not to miss anything.

If I create her from the ears, she will always be listening to gossip, causing much strife when she spreads news about others’ affairs.

If I create her from the mouth, she will be talkative and a gossip.

If I create her from the heart, she will be jealous.

If I create her from the hands, she will constantly handle things and be a meddler.

If I create her from the feet, she will be wanderer and promiscuous”

G-d wanted woman to be as perfect as possible, and not to have any undesirable traits. He therefore created her from a place which could not have any adverse affect on her personality. He wanted her to be intrin­sically free of all adverse traits.

Every person has free will and if a woman chooses a path that is not tempered with righteousness and mercy she can develop adverse traits.

There is a rich tradition throughout the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures and many stories that have become lost. The tales of dragons, the phoenix, unicorns and other sacred animals have become lost over the years and the many translations of the Bible. The accounts of demons, giants, warriors and wise men have become buried in the multiple versions of the Holy Writ.
Throughout history man has searched for meaning in this world and has relied strongly upon the Bible. We have many written variants of the Scriptures today, but there was also a vibrant oral tradition that accompanied the written Word. A basic tenet of the Jewish faith is the firm belief that there are two parts of the Scriptures, the Written and the Oral.
No matter how one approaches the Bible, it was designed to be given over by telling. “In the beginning… (Genisis 1:1)” It starts, as if the Holy One, blessed be He, was an elder with a long white beard, who sat us upon His knee and began: “once upon a time.” The Hebrew and Greek languages are conceptual so that while words may be translated, concepts are lost each time the Bible is translated.

Shalom - I was pleased to see the article, "Lost Stories of the Bible" in the spring issue of The Biblical Storyteller. I wrote the article to show the stories in the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures are many times overlooked or just plain lost. I how the article will stimulate discussion.

Hello everyone,
couple of items for all 1) My wife and I have a friend in Taiwan that just had a stroke. She had a terrible stroke this week and is paralyzed on one side. This is a caring person who has served as an interpreter for me on three of my four tours of Taiwan. Please pray for her recovery and that she can mentally get through all that is happening to her. She also started openly talking to me about Christ on my last visit there. So it would be good to pray for continued progress in her walk with God.
2) Lock the dates June 19, 2009 and June 20, 2009 into your calendars. These are the planned dates for the National Storytelling Conference in Normal, Illinois. Information about proposals and registration will be coming out shortly.

Hello Folks,
Nehemiah! 1st chapter for little ones. Not one I would have picked, but since the sermon was on 1-7 Sunday I had to go with it. Action begets consequence. I did it. Folks thought it was good, kids were very attentive. But I'm looking for more of a storyline for this prophet. Anyone out there have any ideas, resources??
