Hello Everyone;

Please check your freindship request and either accept them or reject them. But please don't let them sit idle. If one hundred people do that, if keeps others from making new friends. Just go to your friends tabs, the little silloettes at the top right of your page, under your name and click it. I expect if you haven't found it by now... you may have many pending new friends.

Just a tip.

During the early 90's I had the good fortune to tour South East Asia five times in as many years. I would love to get into the circuit again, but my contacts are no longer available. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My start in storytelling was on bus tours in the U. S. and Western Europe. I told location based tales to "captive" audiences to sparkle my tour commentary.

I burned out at tour directing, but have continued telling, mostly in a local grammar school. I would love to take my tales, and music (flute, mostly) abroad, solo or tandem (...?) to audiences of other lands and cultures.

Thrilled to have found you,
Carlos

Just back from the Federation for European Storytelling meeting (FEST) in Oslo. What a fantastic meeting, and what a great group of storytellers! I can't wait for next year!

Currently I'm a student in Minneapolis, Minnesota studying comic art and storytelling but I very much want to get out into the world. I'm right now applying for a large grant to go to Ireland to study storytelling.
Anyone who's been to or who is currently residing in Ireland, I would love to talk to you.

I'm glad to join the group. Like Sheila Wee, I'm based in Singapore. I've been doing a lot of storytelling + training of teachers/students in Hong Kong for the past 4 years.

In an attempt to raise my international profile I took part in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe last year which was a great experience both personally - I played almost exclusively to adults, which i rarely do in Singapore - and professionally (I met someone from the Bahrain spring of culture Festival who booked me for two shows in March this year.)

I'm in the process of filming my first 2 DVDs - animal tales for kids and Asian tales for a wider audience - which i hope will also raise my profile and lead to work abroad.

Singapore has an annual International Storytelling Festival (it's where I met Dianne DLC.) While I personally am not happy with its current direction (lumping anything and everything connected with the concept of a story, eg film-making and writing a novel, under the 'storytelling' umbrella!) it does offer plenty of opportunities for international tellers. Eth no tec, Kevin Cordi and Linda Fang are coming later this month from the US, plus others from Australia and Asia. Visit http://www.bookcouncil.sg/sisf/index.htm for info

Hope to see you one day at my home - and yours!

this will be a very interesting forum to follow.

I have always been fascinated by how stories connect us all, and how they can help us understand other cultures.

I am originally from Finland. I grew up in Sweden. I studied theater in France and later dance in India. I have been lucky to get the opportunity to work with wonderful storytellers from around the world.

I now live in New Mexico in the US where I travel around telling and hearing stories.

I look forward to hear more about all your story adventures.

Happy to be a part of this forum. My international work is focused on Asia. I have told and collected tales across Asia for many years and have a number of books, articles, tapes, CDs out of Asian tales and about Asian tellers. I first went to India overland at 20 (that's a wild story) and on my next trip, at 23, met my husband, Indian sculptor Paramasivam. I now spend time in a great South Indian artists' colony we belong to, in the wonderful island home we built ourselves near Seattle, and traveling in Asia to share stories. Glad to meet you all. Hello everyone
I am new to this group and just want to say Hi.
I am a Danish Canadian storyteller/actress living and working in Copenhagen. In September 19th, 20th and 21st, I will be in Stockholm at the Fabula Festival participating in the storytelling contest with 9 fellow Scandinavians from Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Please let me know if I am to look out for any of you. Would be very happy to share a cup of good strong scandinavian coffe with anyone and exchange a few stories : )
