Shalom, I received many iquiries about my book, A Time to Mourn, A Time to Comfort, on how to use storytelling as a vehicle to approach to grief counseling for children. As a result I have written a teacher's guide to be used with the stories in my book. Shalom, R' Rock

Hi, Everyone - I have been missing in action from this page and from the Professional Storyteller site for a time - I was busy working on a series of four books for children. The books were released in Taiwan in July and will hit the American market soon this fall. I will post them on this site when they reach the USA. All four are bilingual in English and Chinese. I am looking forward to sharing them with all my storytelling friends - especially since three of the four will be great stories that you can tell to young audiences. Best to you all! Mike

Anyone able to speak on the importance of having an ISBN number if you are self publishing? Thanks

I have been telling at the Philmont Training Center twice a week all summer and it has been an interesting experience as the stories touch so many cultures and faiths

Him folks - I just read Cathryn's note about telling stories at a teahouse. It is one of the greatest experiences a teller can have. It is so very hard to tell through an interpreter - to establish and keep up a rhythmn where the story can flow without interruptions - but WOW! She is right about the media coverage. I had three TV stations interview me in Taiwan this past week prior to a program in the city of Taichung. The mayor came out and shared the stage with me. He used to interpret for the president of Taiwan - so - you can imagine the high level of interpretation! I think he thought of things to add to my stories to even make them better than usual! :) If you ever get the chance to visit Asia with your stories, DO IT! You don't even have to do it as a money maker. Just do it for the love of storytelling. FYI to all - I just released FOUR new children's books here. The art was done by a Taiwanese artist named Lu Lu Yang. The books are done at a level that are unbelievable. I knew my stories were good - but she took them to a new level for me with her pictures. I will be excited to share the stories in storytelling circles and in schools - so others among you can begin telling the lovely tales I created with young children. Best to all! Mike Lockett

I just had the amazing experience of telling in a delightful teahouse in Suzhou, China. It was a first time ever telling of a foreigner with a master Yangzhou pinghua teller. We told bilingually, me in English and he in YZ dialect, to a very enthusiastic audience. We were in the papers and on TV. All this was worth dodging the swine flu threats!

Hi Storytellers! I'm excited to announce that my book, HAUNTED NAPERVILLE, will be published October 12, 2009 by Arcadia Publishing...and I just signed a contract to write EERIE AURORA for next year! Both books discuss the haunted history of two major cities in Illinois. I'm currently out-of-stock of my CD LATE NIGHT FRIGHT, but I'm planning to sell them as downloads from my web site...once I figure out how to do that, sigh! Happy hauntings...
