I have had three corporate gigs in nine years of telling. All were funny and original. While still needing to work a 40 hr job my goal is to build enough business to go full time in telling within two years. My reason for joining this group is to learn more about how to get there from here. I hear that funny is what sells in Corporate America being funny is easy for those of us who have inside out and upside down brains.

Storytelling is my business. I am a spit tobacco educator in East Texas. I operate with the help of money from the state of Texas and several grants. I set up engagements with students and tell stories. I have found this is far more effective than just telling stats.

I have just accepted a job to teach some ocean scientists how to tell their stories.... I think the organizers motivation was part to let them have a fun workshop choice, and we can do that, but I would also like to share some other uses of story with them... perhaps for resolving conflict or some other social situation(?) Any comments, suggestions?
