Abigail is a professional storyteller residing in Rhode Island working diligently to keep the oral tradition alive and vibrant!!!
Abigail “Ifatola” Jefferson promotes multicultural awareness through a blend of drumming, dance, song, and storytelling. She has traveled to Ghana, Nigeria, Niger, and Cuba to study cultural traditions, and audiences of all ages have described her storytelling presentations as inspiring, fun-filled, healing, and energizing. Abigail is certified as a Kripalu Yoga Dance® instructor and Kripalu Yoga teacher, is the creator of Roots Yoga: African-Inspired Movement™ (which is a style of yoga that blends traditional African dance with Hatha yoga). She is currently an adjunct professor in Lesley University’s Creative Arts in Learning Program where she teaches and mentors Cultural History Through Storytelling, An Arts Approach to Diversity and Reflective Practice, and Integrating the Arts into the Curriculum. A founding member of the Rhode Island Black Storytellers, she recently released a beautifully illustrated children’s book titled Imani’s Heart: The Dancing Angel, which received in 2009, The Eric Hoffer's Honorable Mention Book Award in the Leagacy Fiction Category. Abigail has performed in schools, libraries, theatres, group homes, conference centers, churches, prisons, museums, businesses, and the list goes on and on.....

I noticed that you teach cultural history through storytelling. I have been looking for a college that offers a graduate program if folkloric arts/storytelling in the NYC area. I wish it was something more widely offered.
