Thanks for the beautiful words. We were doing an exercise with the names of animals and everyone of them but me had a match. Michael told me then it is because he was giving it to me as my name. I was so excited being the only one with the name. I happened to talke with a brother in Kansas City Missouri who was teaching the young people in 7-9th grade to speak the language. I also like the Jamican Dialect and Creole, which is spoken in the southern states in the US.
Thanks also for the invitation and when I can secure or find a grant to come I will definately let you know. Stay strong in the coulture and share as we in the coulture do.. Kipepeo

Hello Aghan,

What wonderful work you do. We have a significant population of people from Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda here in Vancouver, BC. Also from Congo---the community has formed an incredible choir. I would like to join, but am shy about learning Swahili. A few wonderful storytellers.

Welcome to this site. Maybe one day you will visit us in Canada.

I hope I can become one of your friends. It is from Michael Kamau, I hope I spelled his name right, who gave me my African name, Kipepeo. I know he was from Kenya and his family was in Ann Arbor. Michael was with us at the National Association Of Black Storytellers which started in Baltimore, Maryland with our elusterous leader, now deceased, Mother Mary. Keep the tradition alive as we do here in the states. It is an honor to meet you. Do you play any of the traditional instruments in your stories?
