Hello Alan
I've just found this site, so am just starting to look around...and what a pleasure it is to meet another teller from Cornwall. I tell at schools, National Trust properties and other venues, but festivals is an area I've not made it to any advice you have would be very welcome.
With best wishes

Thanks for the welcome, Alan. I'd span the miles in an instant for such a conference as the SfS Gathering. Tributes to you for weaving through the glitches gracefully. I returned home inspired and energized, already anticipating next year's reunion. Somehow (hopefully) I'll make it back. Meanwhile, Alan, best with all your telling and other endeavors. Say hello to your sweet wife as well.

Dear Alan:

Welcome to Professional Storyteller. I am glad you found your way to the site. The UK is one of those places I have not yet had the opportunity to visit (except on a layover and that doesn't count - haha). My father's family descends from Wales so it is a trip I definitely need to take! Explore the site and make some new friends. We sure do have fun here! Best wishes and Happy Tales to You!

Hey there Alan

Welcome to the coolest site on the planet. I am glad you are here. I told stories in the UK in Derby at the Flying Donkeys Storytellers and at Hilton Primary School and at the Baby Bumpers DayCare at the Toyota Plant near Derby. I love your terrific country and wonderful country side, and especially the great tellers I met there. Do you know Helen Frances? Jump right in on this group... check out the forums... start a group or join one... this is great stuff. Upload your audio files so we can hear you tell or even your video. But most importantly... just have fun.

Dear Alan:

I went to the Society of Storytelling website and discovered that you are on the Board as the Website Manager.

I sent a request to the SfS to make a presence on this site (as has been done by the National Storytelling Network) and to spread the word at "The Gathering" in a couple days.

I assume you will be attending that event?

Until we tell again,

Rachel Hedman

Hello, Alan, and Welcome!

How did you learn of this awesome site?

I'm sure you've heard what an exceptional place this is - it's a real boon to tellers of all stripes.

Take a bit of time to check out, investigate, play with, etc. the various pages - Main Page, Teller Pages, Video, audiofiles, Photos, Forums, Groups (esp. FAQ Group for questions you may have). You will be both surprised and delighted to discover some of the great tellers on this site. You have the opportunity to ask questions, inititate discussions, create groups, upload your videos, photos, etc. -exchange ideas and discuss (virtually) endlessly all manner of storytelling-related issues and concerns.

Very glad you have made your way to us, and I look forward to hearing (and/or seeing) your contributions to the site.

Again, my sincere Welcome!

Dear Alan:

Welcome to the site.

I recently checked out the book "Magic and Mischief, Tales from Cornwall" retold by Shirley Climo. Have you seen the giant of Castle Treen or perhaps some meyn?

What types of stories do you tell?

Since you tell in schools, then you may be interested in the video I posted on this site that originally came from YouTube called "Teaching Storytelling in the Classroom".

Enjoy all the possibilities here and please spread the word to your fellow storytellers of this site.

Until we tell again,

Rachel Hedman
