I "fell off" of this site too... no, I'm not related to Kip, as far as I know...

Hi again, how could I forget, you also should contact Yvonne Healy who's on this group. She's originally from Ireland. She also took her daughters back to Ireland for a visit & took Richard's tour. Teenagers on a tour of Ireland's legendary spots. Sound boring to them?
NOT!!!
They actually enjoyed it. For his part Richard claims to be unable to tell w/o his hands in the bus driver position, but that's not true as I've enjoyed his performances more than once.

Hi Alison,
Good luck with your goal of getting to Ireland. You were searching for other storytellers there. Contact Richard Marsh, & you will find out more about him & his email address. He's a great guy & resource for you. Tell him HI! from me when you do it.

Dear Alison:

Here is a belated welcome to the "College Big Cats: Tracking and Capturing Gigs" group. As a college student, you are automatically dubbed an expert. We look forward to any comments or questions from you.

(Besides, you have been a little quiet lately on this site.)

You may have noticed the e-Course there on basic marketing for college venues.

Until we tell again,

Rachel Hedman

Hi Alison,

It's refreshing to learn of young people who are interested in storytelling. I am the membership coordinator for National Storytelling Network (NSN). I'm inviting you to join NSN to receive all the benefits listed on our website: www.storynet.org. If you have any questions, please email me at frankie@storynet.org or call me at 1-800-525-4514.

All the best to you,

Frankie

Scabop Shaboom,

Hey hey, it is always splendid to find another storyteller in age bracket - Rachel says there are more out there, but they are sometimes hard to find.

As for my experience, I stumbled onto storytelling (as part of the NSN scene) in 2004 (I think - maybe 2005) when I saw Jay O'Callahan. It was at that performance that I knew I had to be a storyteller. Since then, I have dedicated my life to storytelling. I have performed since that fateful O'Callahan performance, sometimes paid gigs and some donated time, but I only recently feel I have begun finding my own truly unique voice, heavily influenced by the late storytelling master Lord Buckley (check him out, one crazy cat!) and I'm primarily interested in performing for people in our age bracket, help some people to realize storytelling is not just for kids.

ETSU is a great experience, for the most part - there are always difficulties, but over all, I give it a thumbs up (probably 4 out of 5 stars, may 3 1/2 on a bad day and 5 on a good one, but usually 4).

So, what's your gig? I see your an illistator (beautiful work on your site, I particularly like the picture Kyrnie, but they all have a certain mystic catches me. Do you know Joe Wos? He does illustration with storytelling (from the Pittsburgh area), and you might be want to get in contact with him. If you don't already have his info, let me know and I'll see if I can find it. I also like your interest in the psychology behind storytelling - have you read any Joseph Campbell or Karl Jung or Marie Louis van Franz? I know they all explore the archetypes and necessity of folklore a great deal - and if you come to ETSU, you will study them. But I find it interesting.

And now I'm rambling, and I have work to do, so I must bounce off this computer and into the next story. Enjoy twisting and turning about in all the stories their are (I have no idea what that means, but it sounds like it should mean something).

All the best,
Lethan
