About Me:
I am Alton Russell, from Columbus, Georgia, and I sell toilet paper. I have been telling stories to the Royal Rangers, a boys ministry, for over 30 years. I am now expanding out to the community and where ever. My stories are mostly about the Wild West and the pre 1840 Mountain Man, frontier. I really love to get the west and the Mountain man history out to my audience. I also have ghost stories, folk tales,
stories of the Civil War and of course....outrageous tall tales.
I am traveling and trying to listen, tell and learn more about storytelling.
I was part of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame, Cowboy Showcase and had a great time. As the only storyteller there, it was extra fun.
I have attended the Story telling Conference in Gatlingburg and several storytelling Festivals. They were all excellent. Met some outstanding storytellers that I want to be like..
Website is up and running, check it out.

Even from the thumbnail size picture I picked up on the western look. Along with Civil War I am guessing your interests run west. I do a lot of stories from the wild west and in costume. We belong to the Ct. Renegades a cowboy mounted shooting club( my son and I) I live in Eastern Ct. My civil war stories include a first erson story of a civil war women whose 4 brothers are enlisted, it is all from family letters.

Alton, this not exactly connected, but I just finished a research on the Eastern Tennessee area. Primarily, Newport and Cosby. I have about 75 stories about that beautiful part of the "Smokies".............oel

Dear Alton, I am looking forward to visiting with you. I am always overjoyed to see the passion for stories of the West. I am bogged down this week with telling. These next two weeks are "killers" Go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and you'll see "big". I have daily appearances for 12 days in a row. Rocking chair set up and 30,000 youngsters to appear before. Not complaining, just explaining..........oel

Hi Alton,

Welcome to the Jewish Storytelling group. We're just getting this topic started, so your questions, comments, insights and stories are all very much invited. Is there a particular interest of yours that inclined you to sign on?

Hey, Alton, Welcome!

Sorry I missed you 20 hrs ago, thus now sending a tardy Welcome - but, all in all, it's the best I could do.

You're gonna love what this site has to offer, and you are gonna grow by leaps and bounds in all dimensions as a teller. To use it as part and parcel of your ministry to the RR crew is awesome! I wish you the very best along those lines - as Buck mentioned, please take advantage of the Biblical Storytelling Group to share your insights, concerns, questions, issues, etc. w/ the rest of us - it is an amazingly supportive and helpful group (as it should be!)

I'm delighted that you've joined us, look forward to your contributions to the site (and our group!), and wish you great fulfillment and success as you incorporate telling into ministry; it worked for Him, it'll work for us!

Sincerely,

Tom Taylor (Deep in the Heart of Texas)
