Profile Information

About Me:
Angelyn DeBord is an Appalachian-born and raised storyteller, actress, playwright and workshop leader. She is a 2003 recipient of a Rockefeller Humanities Fellowship.

Statement: For the past 27 years I have facilitated writing and performance workshops all across America.
My workshops are a funfilled time. Each participant is guided in uncovering delightful personal stories. These stories are shared in small groups and then can be developed into a performance piece or shared in a writing form.
This is a 'whole language' approach and
a good time is had by all!!

Hi Angelyn, Have you heard about the Saturday Series of workshops that are sponsored by Virginia Storytelling Alliance? The first one will be on Sat. Dec. 6 in Abingdon, VA at the Virginia Highlands Community College, 9:30 a.m. Two workshops will be presented, GROW with Kim Weitkamp on marketing and DIG IT with Paul Conco on developing the oral history. Lunch is included in the price of $75 for VASA members, $85 non-members and will be followed by coaching, story labs, and story swaps. We would love to have you come and network and enjoy our storytelling community. We're trying to reach out to SW Virginia storytellers. Contact me on My Page if you'd like more info. Mimi

Angelyn:

I have long been a fan of yours and have wanted to meet you forever. I hear such nice things about you from Octavia and Darla Jackson. I was accepted to be a KY Arts Council perfoming artist and also I'm listed on the Arts Ed. Roster, so your name has come up often. I retired from teaching this past May and am now a full-time teller.

I heard you years ago at Southeast Community College in Cumberland, KY along with Tom Bledsoe and Ron Short. I was so enraptured by your performance that I bought the - get this - album and nearly wore it out over the years. I taught speech and drama in Harlan and I used the album every year when I taught storytelling.

Maybe one day our paths will cross, after all, we just live across the mountain from one another.

Take care,
Pam

Hello Angelyn;

What a great site PS has become and what a great community of tellers. Forgive me for being so late in greeting you. Recently my heart decided to throw a little surprise party at the emergency room... not a heart attack just Pericarditis (non-lethal... only painful condition). I am recovering nicely, was able to go ahead and get married and move. So you might forgive my late greeting. Hope you join some of the groups... mine will pick back up as I get more settled into our new routines. Anyway... welcome to PS and I hope you learn to love it and this wonderful collection of tellers as much as I do.

Buck
