Tony- Thanks so much for your info! As a student, the concept of researching a story and an audience makes perfect sense. Thanks! I hadn't really brought that concept into my process intentionally. (Yay! A new tool!) Be well, and thanks again- Annel…

Dear Anneliese First of all I must respond by saying that your work is vitally important to the growth of storytelling. The more academic proof, as it were, of the merits and strengths of storytelling, the more mainstream and viable it will become…

Hi Doug- Across the board (drawing, painting, acting, dancing, making collages, mobile-making, storytelling, cooking), when my art clicks into gear is when I've pushed against the self-critic so much that she finally shuts up and I give in to comple…

Profile Information

About Me:
I am a student here in Bellingham, Washington. I am currently building my own major around storytelling. I want to do my part to re-infuse our culture with as many benefits of storytelling as possible. My advisor, Doug Banner, and I recently talked about this culture's hunger for connection. I hope to connect storytelling with other passions, including food, communication skills, and healing. I welcome any information about the lifestyles of professional storytellers, and how YOU use stories in your everyday/family life.

Hi Annelise, sounds like we are looking at similar stuff. I am based in the UK Midlands and I am doing a Doctorate in Education at Derby University. Sounds like we share other passions too! Do you want to share ideas/notes any time? I am currently trying to build my storytelling work - and I am going to Israel in May to tell stories to interfaith/culture groups, touring for one week then at a week-long Peace festival. I should have some interesting stuff around using stories for peace and conflict resolution stuff when I get back.
