"She was probably at our conference this summer in Newfoundland, the maritimes are too far for me to go but I hear it was a great one, more international than some past years have been. Next year it's in the Yukon! Too far?"

"Thank you Lois, for your welcome. I am based in Edmonton Alberta, have you ever been to any SC-CC (Storytellers of Canada-Conteurs du Canada) conferences? We generally have a few Americans in attendance."

"Welcome, Bethany! May you enjoy this place to network with the rest of us "big kids" who have also found the benefit in shutting the book & just telling."

Profile Information

Professional Storyteller is a network for people who work in the field of oral storytelling. Please write a brief paragraph about your work.
After trying to interest a group of squirming preschoolers in a lovely picture book one desperate summer afternoon I shut the book and began to tell - they listened. Thirty years and five continents later I am still telling and they (the big kids and the small) are still listening.

Keep inviting your American storytelling "cousins." Haven't been able to attend the SC-CC (Storytellers of Canada-Conteurs du Canada) conferences, but it's not because I don't want to attend. I'm right near Windsor, Ontario, & have done some telling in the Guelph area as I've a long-time storytelling friend there. Another Canadian storytelling "family" member, Elinor Benjamin, is out in the Maritimes, so if the conference was there or she was attending it would add to the fun!
