Professional Storyteller is a network for people who work in the field of oral storytelling. Please write a brief paragraph about your work.
I am a Storyteller/Library Specialist. I have done many performances for young audiences including weekly story times which I enjoy greatly, but my favorite work I do is with the Middle Schools. I have run several after school Storytelling Clubs and have done storytelling workshops. I also enjoy recording the oral history of my area.

This sounds fascinating. The collection of such stories could be really powerful. After all, stories help provide both identity and community. I'm reminded of a book I have. “If this is your land, where are your stories?” Edward Chamberlin asked in his book by the same name. This question carries with it the impact of a doubled-edged blade: Not only do the stories of a people define who they are and the space they possess, but the stories of a people are also the tools used to possess that space. The question of the book relates to some Canadian native Americans and the government was trying to take their land!

I hope your project and quest goes well! Tell us about it in the group. Thanks for joining, btw. Best wishes to you! STEVE

Hi Bonnie,
Welcome to this great site. We are neighbors - I live in Westford, MA! Hope you are having a great New Year so far (even with all our snow). Will you be attending Sharing the Fire Northeast Storytelling Conference sponsored by LANES? I'll be there. It would be nice to meet and chat. Take care and hope to hear from you. Best, Leeny

Hi Bonnie,

I'm glad to get to know you. Come home to visit sometime--the mountains are gorgeous any time of the year.
