Professional Storyteller is a network for people who work in the field of oral storytelling. Please write a brief paragraph about your work.
Using voice and movement, storytellers can paint pictures in the mind. Storytelling can strengthen listening skills and imagination. Many skills highlighted in the Common Core are included in the storytelling presentations. I enjoy performing for preschool and elementary children, training teachers how to use these skills, and preparing parents to use literacy skills at home.

Lost and Found~ A True Story

We are very fond of our pets and when our little 14 year old terrior wandered out of the yard we were very worried. She is half blind and half deaf and like us -just plain old. She has aches and pains and is stiff when she gets up. Also, she has congestive heart failure and is on meds twice a day.

We were visiting our son in Metairie, LA and she was not familiar with any of her surroundings. She was out of our sight for about 15 minutes when I discovered her missing. We jumped in the…

Hello Brenda!

Thanks for your note! Looking forward to hearing from you soon! I just did a pajama party story time where we all came in our pj's! It was lots of fun! I used the book, "I'll Love You Forever" by Bob Munsh. He uses lots of repetition so it great for preschoolers. The only thing, we decided to edit the story a bit because part of it is sad...

Hello Ms. Pritchett,

I watched your video with the Christmas stories in it. You are very good!

I do children's programming at my library. I am new to it and have been doing it for about 6 months. I work with a mix of kids between 2 and 5. The age range makes it a challenge because the toddlers have a short attention span. However, I don't want the older kids to get bored. I play the ukulele and sing with them a lot. I have been trying to learn to have them participate in the story as you do. I don't trust the toddlers with the rhythm sticks. I think they would hurt themselves. I hope you and I can write to each other.

Hi Brenda (my storytelling friend!)

It was wonderful to see you in Jackson last week! It was a great workshop. One of the things I learned is that if I really want -- I can become a ballerina. Yes, it's true -- even though I wore my cowgirl boots, I could still kick that leg and toe into a perfect point. I mean, who knew? However, I must admit, although dear, dear Diane tried really hard -- I am still technologically deprived!
