Profile Information

About Me:
I started telling stories for others' entertainment as a child when my brother would ask, "Tell me a story?" and as we draped ourselves on our stomachs on the swings, swinging idly, I would start to spin a story. My first storytelling for a public audience was in 1969. I love all kinds of story – epic, myth, legend, folktale, and literary, including some of my own, which are in fact the stories most often requested. I love the way stories can take us anywhere – and I love the way storytelling can, too, as I have travelled to do storytelling around Canada and into the US and to Australia and Belgium. I teach workshops to all ages, and I tell in tandem with Glenna Janzen. Sometimes I organize things, too – I directed the Toronto Festival of Storytelling in 2006, and also in 2004 and 2005 with Dan Yashinsky, and I'm Artistic Director of Tongues Wagging Productions. I taught in the Parent-Child Mother Goose Program for 9 years in Hamilton and Toronto, telling and teaching stories to parents and young children. And I am founder of the Uppity Women tellers: women tellers who tell stories of strong women of fact and folktale.

You are so right. Just as the uncontrolled flooding waters can destroy and controlled flooding waters can produce energy, so it is with stories! We have a tremendous treasure and a huge responsibility. Welcome!

Well, I believe in the power of story to transform lives - for the better! In fact, I am doing my graduate studies on this topic. This group is for those who share similar views and provides a venue for expressing them! So, you are welcome to "Applied Storytelling: the Power of Story." To join the group simply click on "Groups" at the top of your home page, then click on the "Applied Storytelling" icon (a nice cup of cappuccino!), then click on "Join this Group." I look forward to having you with us! Best wishes to you. STEVE

You live in Cambridge, Ontario? No that's a story!
My father lived there untill his death two years ago!
311, Grand Ridge Drive.
After my parents devorce, almost 50 years ago, he left to Canada and I never saw him again. After 40 years we came back in contact again and I had planned to visit him in 2006. But he daid before I had been there.

Here in Holland all is well. wo grandchildren, number three on the way. Lost of work. We moved to another small town and bought a evoirment friendly new build greenhouse. ( website might work. picture just after it was build.

I still go to Alden Biezen every year. Its always special to be there.
We also run a small theatre in a town nearby. Every month on a sunday we have a storytelling or music programm.
In september Dan Yashinsy was in Holland for a Storytellingfestival, he really liked my Shipmates of captain Mc Cow. So who knows.....
All the best.

Hi Carol,

I'm fine, though missing Kiran as she has now moved to the Blue Mountains west of Sydney to be with her husband.

Cheers,
