I grew up between the best of both worlds. Raised outside Boston, where my Irish grandparents freely shared stories of the old country, I was also fortunate to spend my early summers on my maternal grandparents farm in rural Nova Scotia.
With a strong interest in my Irish and Scottish roots, I went on to study in the Celtic Studies Department at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia and complete my Masters Degree in Folklore at Memorial University in Newfoundland.
I perform regularly as a solo artist/storyteller as well as with The Boston Kiltics, a New England based celtic music and dance troupe who perform at schools, libraries and festivals.
Hi,
Loved your videos. I can't dance and I can't play music so I envy those who do. My son is a very talented musician. I read you had Irish roots. One of my great-grandmothers was Irish. Grandpa told a great story about the Big Toe.
Hi Cliff, Welcome - it's great to see you here! Hope this finds you well. I can see you've been busy and that's a good thing. I'm getting tired of shoveling snow, but I think we're in it for the long haul. Hope our paths cross some time soon, perhaps at Sharing the Fire?
Be well! xo, Leeny
What a great site PS has become and what a great community of tellers. Forgive me for being so late in greeting you. Recently my heart decided to throw a little surprise party at the emergency room... not a heart attack just Pericarditis (non-lethal... only painful condition). I am recovering nicely, was able to go ahead and get married and move. So you might forgive my late greeting. Hope you join some of the groups... mine will pick back up as I get more settled into our new routines. Anyway... welcome to PS and I hope you learn to love it and this wonderful collection of tellers as much as I do.
