About Me:
The Multicolored Lady - Storyteller from Hungary
Trickster, trickster :)

Storyteller, writer, archaeologist, everybody's little sister in the storytelling world. The place I call home is in the Hungarian fairyland of Szigetköz (don't ask me to write down my hometown's name... okay, Győrújbaráthegy, there you have it;). I travel around the world (last year I was in the USA on a one-year scholarship, and, according to some of my friends there, I visited more states than native Americans usually do in a year... including Jonesborough, the Timpanogos Conference in Utah, Pennsylvania, New York, Sharing the Fire in New Hampshire, Northlands in Wisconsin and then the St. Louis Festival... huh)
I have been a storyteller (officially professionally actually) since 2006, when I discovered that such a thing still exists (thank you all who were there in cyberspace to help me!) I've been telling stories since I was a kid (runs in the family) - up till the college entrance exams I was convinced I'd be a bard one day. Then I became an Archeology major (Rome sweet home:), and then a storyteller, and my first book got published, and now everyone is trying to figure out where I'm going with all this... (I know exactly. Around the world. Twice. And then twice again, backwards. As simple as that.)
I tell folktales, legends and myths in English and in Hungarian; I'm working on my Spanish telling now. I work in museums, schools, libraries, festivals, pubs, and everywhere people ask me to tell a story or two...
I just love going global and meeting people from all around the world (via Anansi's magical WWWeb, haha, and then in person). Good to be here.
Az igazi meséknek soha nincs vége!

Yo regelt Zalka! We met at Sharing the Fire in Nashua NH & I have been enjoying your newsletters. You haven't sent one in awhile, so I googled your name & found your website--and listened to you tell the story of the Tree that reached the sky. You told that in Nashua and I was so happy to hear it again. Then I found your link to this network & here I am! A new member of Professional Storytellers! Kosonom szepen for leading me here! (I can't put all the little dots on the o's & accept marks to type the Hungarian words correctly, and that's about the limit of what I know!)

Good to hear from you and see your page. The blog about FEST reminds me (as if I needed it) that I have to write my own report and set up the paperwork for FEST 2010, where I hope to see you again and hear another great story. I am very happy to be your friend.

Hello!

Nice to see your page!

I know how it is to be the little sister (in my case brother though) but I also know the best cure. I have been working with educating even younger stprytellers, and now I am their big storytelling brother :)

Hi!!
Pleased to "virtually" meet you!
The festival will be on the 18-19-20th sept. It would be great if you could come in that period! Our website is not available at the moment but it will be restored and updated very soon.
Tomorrow we are leaving for the Festival in Toronto but we'll be back before Easter Holidays.
Let's keep in touch!

Began the book today but know I will end up reading it aloud to Tim. We are never to old to be read to and he still loves to have me, If I send you a few names could you send back a phonetic pronunciation. It makes no difference in reading to myself but i dont want to pronounce them wrong out loud. A wonderful choice so thank you. Cool here today a perfect kind of day. Carolyn

There is a hollow spot in Hartford, Ct. now! We miss you!
I am just home from Tim's 3 day competition and found a suprise - Thank You! I cant wait to settle into a lawn chair and read it, Maybe I will get to begin tommrow we have most of Tim's things put away all are out of the truck and horse trailer. I did a lot of the announcing this weekend it kept me very busy. Got to tell one story when we all sat around and talked on Friday night and shared music it was fun. Amazingly my voice stayed with me through the 3 hours Friday, 7 hours saturday and 3 hours today. Plus this morning I sang a hymn to begin the cowboy church. Now home and tired but it was great fun seeing everybody and Tim did very well. His horse was well behaved and that always makes it easier. Nopw back to working on my storytelling in here a little each night.
This weeks plan is new business cards and take pictures to improve my one page promo sheet, and update brochure and website. That should keep me busy. So glad we have email and this site to keep in touch with you. Carolyn
