About Me:
A professional teller for 15 years, Debi Has told tales all over the West, on TV and radio. A recipient of the Oracle Award, Debi is currently the Vice President of Programming for the renowned Timpanogos Storytelling Festival and frequently shares historical stories about Harriet Tubman and Raoul Wallenberg, personal stories of the perils of parenting, folklore from all around the world and adventures from her own imaginiation. As her children say, "How many people are in there, Mom?" Debi is a troupe of players in one dynamic teller!

Jousting, huh? Sounds like the place for a few great Arthurian legends, maybe a little Chaucer. Have fun, and watch out for the lances!

Thanks so much for the informaton, Debi. That's a pretty spectacular line-up. I told the folks at the storyswap tonight, and several sounded very enthusiastic about attending. I hope they do.

As for San Diego--the usual, 72 degrees with a slight breeze, very chamber of commerce. Good storytelling, too. I'm lecturing at USD tomorrow and telling at a --get this--jousting tournament on Saturday. Fun.

Hi, Debi! Nice to hear back from you. A question: Who are the tellers at Timp this year? I was talking up the festival last month at a storyswap, and I realized I didn't know who was telling. So I referred the folks to the Timp website--only to realize that the names aren't there yet. So I talked to a committee member and left a message for someone else--AND I still don't know who's telling, and the swap is coming up again this week. I'm sure you can tell me, oh knower of all things knowable. Besides that, how's your life---storytelling and otherwise?

I just realized that there's a bit of similarity in our photos--although yours looks more like "Come closer and I'll tell you a story" and mine is more like "I have no idea." Hmmmmmmm.

jello-sister----I LOVE THAT! Catching up with myself (just mis-typed "my elf"---giggle...) while enjoying a night off, albeit in a hotel in Florida. It has, indeed, been far too long and your note was so sweet and the hug so needed while too-often too-far from home. Bless your sweet heart!
Wrist is valiant, yet somewhat unreliable--but you know the trusty chorus: "Could always be worse!!" Preparing for Samantha's high school graduation (!?!) and our celebratory trip to Ireland in Aug/Sept.
Hugely looking forward to my own first trip to New Zealand in the fall and will be in Vernal in September....also working with Center for Documentary in SLC for Arts Council grant that would have me in Utah school year 08-09....So, there's more chances for you to dodge your "life" one day and come and play!! Hello Debi, the Mountain Women are from West Virginia, but I have to say, the story IS like a Dolly Parton song! Coincidentally, when I told at the SC Quilt Guild, I told the story, "Sweet Clara and Freedom Quilt." The author escapes me, but it's a picture book I have in my classroom (I'm also an educator). The liner notes claims it is a true story from the author's family. Do you know this story? It was well-received at my venue. I didn't think it might be controversial. I'm glad, because I might not have told it!

Hello Debi, Rachel Hedman suggested I contact you since I had an engagement with the Southern Comforters Quilt Guild. I learned a lot about quilting as I collected stories about this wonderful art form. I look forward to collecting more! Have you ever heard of the Mountain Women? They tell in tandem and tell a wonderful story about a miner's daughter whose mother made her a coat made out of scraps of old clothes, and each piece tells a story from the family's history. A great tale! I can't find these two women and wish I could.
