Elizabeth Rose was introduced to the world of storytelling by her family in the traditional way, by sitting around the table and on the front porch sharing stories and episodes of life growing up in the small southern town of Etowah, TN. Elizabeth’s stories include a blend of traditional southern folklore, fairy tales, ghost stories, and folktales from around the world.
Elizabeth shares stories woven with wit, humor, and expressive enthusiasm. She has the ability to mesmerize her listeners, transporting them through her image-laden tales of other times and cultures. She has thrilled children and adults alike with her vivacious storytelling in classrooms, festivals, and conferences around the country. She is truly captivating in voice and presentation!
Elizabeth taught elementary and middle school for 19 years, and is currently the Principal at Dyllis Elementary School in Roane County, TN. She has worked with children of all ages, teaching them to appreciate the art of storytelling and to make the art their own by telling the stories themselves. She has used the “Power of Storytelling” in her daily curriculum and conducts workshops for other educators on how to use storytelling in the classroom.
I look foward to meeting and working with you. I'm serving as KY Youth Storytelling Showcase chairman this year. Buck had to step down due to illness. We sure have some fine tellers chosen as our torchbearers this year. I'm anxious to see how they measure up to the National standards.
It is so good to hear from you, especially knowing that the Conference is around the corner! I would be more than happy to emcee the Kids Koncert. I am familiar with the tellers and look forward to being a part of their concert.
Could you please forward the information they sent you regarding their stories and biographies? Please email e if there's anything else i need to know =)
MyLinda,
It was great to see you in Ocala as well. What a wonderful festival you all have there. I had a great time and loved seeing all of the Florida storytelling folks. Take care and look forward to seeing you again soon. Elizabeth Rose
I am a little bit slow in posting, but it was sure good to see you at the Ocala storytelling festival. It really was a good group of tellers. Hope to meet up with you again in the near future.
Ah ha! Now I can see the face that goes with the ideas on the Y.E.S. Alliance conference calls. How wonderful to have a storyteller for a principal. Guess it must be a TN thing as it never happened in St. Louis, MO when I was growing up & the closest I've seen in MI is a puppeteer principal.
Look forward to finally meeting at the Y.E.S. Alliance preconference in Gatlinburg.
(I thought I sent this message to you on the 16th, but I put it into the comment part of my page instead. Hope I finally get up to speed on this network.) Here's my answer to your message (finally):
I saw Bev last summer when I was traveling through Idaho. She and her husband are doing quite well, and she is using her considerable energy to take on greedy builders who are trying to turn their quiet, little community into a "snob hollow" of several hundred big, exclusive, luxury homes behind huge gates. Only Bev could manage such a task, and she is doing a great job keeping the community focused. I so admire her - wish I had half of her energy.
How are things going with you? Whenever I see your name, it is associated with all things good and the youth storytelling community.
Happy St. Patrick's Day Elizabeth! So glad to get reconnected..it has been a long time! I'm excited to see what you are up to and how wonderful to have a STORYTELER for a PRINCIPAL! I want to be a student at YOUR school!
Have fun...and may the road rise to meet you...
