About Me:

Emilee Seaman
(AKA The Story Weaver)
Storyteller/Writer

Storytelling is an art…stories are what the world's made of. Stories are wonderful. Share them.

Emilee is 17 years old and lives in Owensboro, KY with her parents and 2 brothers. She had been writing her own stories and was active in the theater when she was introduced to storytelling in 2007. Since that time, she was awarded Kentucky Torchbearer for youth storytelling 2 years in a row and was chosen to showcase at the National Storytelling festival in 2008 where she placed as a highschool finalist and in 2009 where she placed as The National Highschool Torchbearer. Emilee has told stories in different venues this last year, narrated a community theater play, and completed a novel manuscript for the young writers program contest for NaNoWriMo.org. Some of her other hobbies include photography, cooking, designing websites, and watching mystery TV shows.

Calendar
Places I'll be telling: On the 28th of this month there will be storytelling at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville, KY. I will be telling a story as well as some other talented youth tellers. It starts at 10AM. There is admission to enter the state fair itself ($8 for adults, $4 for kids ages 3-12 and senior citizens) but as for as I know the storytelling event is FREE. It'll take place at the Toyota Mortor Manufacturing Blue Ribbin Stage located in the South Wing B Lobby. Hope to see some of you there!

Wish you coulda been there.

I love the mountains. Just being within the mountains makes me realize how small and insignificant I really am. I had never seen mountains before until February of last year. Of course I had seen them on postcards and in movies, but I had never stood outside and looked out at real mountains, the tips shrouded in thick white mist. I had the great privilege to see them again this year for the second time.

The Smoky Mountain Storytelling Festival in Pigeon Forge, TN was amazing. Each workshop was… Continue

Emilee, really like your line "if we had no library I think...see tomorrow", you articulate it so well! :-)

Emilee those are great pictures... thank you. I am going to save the Buck and Beyond picture for my files. I love the picture of the diner and yes it does remind me of "The Man with No Shoes."

I am having a very busy couple of weeks but I hope to talk to you very soon.

Hello,

Good to hear back from you and I hope I get to hear your "whimsical" story some day :)

Personally, I tend to tell classic tales with contemporary twists - I think you can listen to my CD through this page if you want some examples. More recently, however, I've begun experimenting with a strong, rhythmic, fast paced style inspired by the late Lord Buckley (If you don't know him, check him out - incredible).

So right now, the short of it is that I'm still finding my personal voice, but am having lots of fun doing it.

Hope all is well and keep in touch,
Lethan

Hey Emilee,

it's great to see another young storyteller on the site. What sort of stories do you tell?

Dear Emilee:

I missed seeing you at Pigeon Forge. I have attended the National Youth Storytelling Showcase for five years in a row but I missed the one last February.

I usually play storytelling games with the finalists. The last night of the event, the games usually go on through the night. You can even ask Rixon for proof.

I hope to at least get to know you better this way.

Until we tell again,

Emilee,
Not a whole bunch. Just school and baseball. The sad thing is, several of the people at my school didn't even realize I was gone. They love me so much! Sounds like you're doing good. Done any other performances recently?

I haven't seen the video from the Conference... I bet that would be a high quality video, I don't know... it is a creative call... your choice... I know you will make a good one... Have you got your copy of Robert McKee's book "Story" yet? Let me know if you have trouble finding it.
