I have been a storyteller for all of my life, and I am now 74.
I recently acquired a cochlear implant which enabled me to
become more active (I have been deaf for about 20 year).
I checked out your website and found it very fascinating. I visited your site a few years ago but there are quite a few changes or additions since that time.
Keep passing along those stories!

Hi Gary,
I am editor of the North Carolina Storytelling Guild publication, "Journal of Tar Heel Tellers." May I have permission to quote your January 11, 2009 comment below in our June 2009 issue?
Congratulations on these accolades bestowed upon you. I believe that you have earned them.
For what it is worth, the state of North Carolina recently gave me the Folklore Award (Brown Carson Award) and Western Carolina University gave me an honorary doctorate. Awards make me nervous since there seems to be a tendency to give them to folks who are getting ready to shake off this mortal coil. I am also a playwright and most of my plays started as stories.
