Three and Half more days.

In three and half more days of teaching I will be leaving my teaching position for the last 33 years. I have left on a high note after receiving the Learning Disabilities Association Indiana State Teacher of the Year for 2007-2008 school year. I will miss the students and friends I have had and going to school each day. I know a new door is opening for me to step through to do full time professional storytelling. Since 1993 I have been a part time storyteller and have thouroughly enjoyed the exp… Continue

55th Birthday Gary Wittmann

I am excited about May 6, 2008 because I will be turning 55 years old. The other excitement is I will be completing 33 years as a Special Education Teacher in Ferdinand, Indiana. 55 and retiring leaves you a lot of quality years for storytelling. Best of luck and I hope to hear you (and others on this list) tell one day.

Dear Gary:

So you have experience chasing a monster from camp? My specialty is chasing away raccoons. The scariest moment was when that raccoon was a mama and had a little one to protect.

Perhaps you have inspired me to explore that moment a little more and make it ready to tell one of these days.

Like you, I enjoy creating songs or narrative mixed with songs.

How do you keep track of your song/story ideas?

I like to have the mp3 recorder handy. If I have what I call "Random Rachel" ideas, then I record them. It may be a tune or a sentence or two, but I figure it is better to record them in some way lest the inspiration floats away--never to return.

Until we tell again,

Let me say it plainly... this is a great site... join us if you haven't already in the marketing group... look at our past discussions... lots of really strong organizational stuff, Look into the Fishbowl and if you are working on something... and happen to be fearless... jump in the bowl... it is a great way to get good feedback and you still get to choose what you want to do in end but it is great to have a bunch of people who really want to help.

check out the postcard project I have already completed and will be mailing out... well the first mailing went out today.
