2010 Summer Tour to Touch Down in Spokane, WA

I will be in Spokane July 19-22 during my summer tour. I am open to donating one show in exchange for a place to park my RV while in the area. Any ideas?

Finding Work During The Recession

With all the budget cuts taking place right now, it is unwise for storytellers to rely on arts councils, arts commissions and other sources of work we've enjoyed in the past. This recession is taking a toll on everyone, and performers are certainly feeling the pinch. We have to get even more creative when we drum up business, particularly if we want to continue to pay the bills. Since I am an optimist, I continue to keep my eye out for interesting, and untapped possibilities. My most recent… Continue

Greetings from Kirkland Lake Ontario

What a wonderful trip this is turning out to be! With a Canadian journalist and book author as my guide, I am spending time in an area close to the Hudson Bay to do some important story research on a project I've been developing over the last 18 months. My goal is to write, produce and perform a Chautauqua. Anyone out there had this particular storytelling experience? I have found it to be beneficial as an artist to try new things and stretch my abilities. This keeps me moving forward and… Continue

My Cross Country Tour

I'll be hitting the road from Tucson on August 11th, heading east on I-40 toward Pennsylvania through Oklahoma City. From there I'll be taking I-44 through St. Louis, and on to I-70 with plans to be near Indianapolis and Columbus on or around August 19th. Then I plan to head to Pennsylvania for a few days before traveling north to spend a week doing story research in Canada and return to Pennsylvania via Goshen, Indiana. I'll be near Harrisburg, PA from August 31 to September 8 when I leave to… Continue

A Note of Gratitude

As I continue to explore storytelling options and opportunities, my gratitude to the many generous storytellers out there is often overwhelming. On occasion, I feel a bit isolated in my efforts to design new programs, learn or create stories, develop promotional pieces and market to customers. Having a website like this one where I can connect with old and new storytelling friends makes quite a difference for me. That, along with my circle of local and regional teller contacts help to keep me… Continue

Thanks for the befriending and the comments. I have not ventured to Chautaqua performances and am not to familiar. Bounding forward at learning all I can but am never satisfied, I will add Chautaqua to my list of learn more! I love historical material and live in such a rich historical enviroment it quite literally can fall in my lap. Like our family has farmed these same fields since 1772 and we are plowing them once more this week! I do a first person civil war show as great Aunt Adaline, Civil War Sister, I do a program of Civil War music, I also have a mixed Civil War program and a Lincoln Program. I have an all wild west show from the 1890's and costume for that too. My newest show will have its debut on May 31 it is Spinning Tales all stories with spinning wheels in the tale and I tell while I am spinning wool to yarn. One of my colonial crafts come full circle. I have some Rev war period stories as well and can do a full show of them. It is the history I grew up with and there is so much near by. Maybe someday you will be in the east and I can treat you to a historical tour the area is so abundant. Well the alarm clock will ring at 5 a.m. for barn chores then off to the high school by 7 a.m. to subsitute in the Vo-Ag dept then a run to the feed store and home for afternoon chores and here comes another crazy week. Even my daughters wedding on Saturday! My next performance is Monday the 18 th for the University of Ct. Cooperative Extension Council, that will be fun!

Thanks for the 'connection' (plaxo-style) - I feel just as you do re the whole social networking biz, tho - one of these days, perhaps.

Understand about you and the Anti-IRS vehicle you drive/live-in; glad you made a good move (no pun inte... well, actually, yeah - it was) to deal with'em, and you get to sleep in your own territory.

We're well, and wish you the very best. Pls holler when you're headin' this way (that being the middle of Texas) -

See ya round th campfire . . . or PS.ning . . . or Plaxo . . . or somewhere!

Hi Glenda
The storytelling sessions have gone really well this week. The living puppet 'Billy' kept the children and adult's very focused.

Hi Glenda

Thank you for reading my blogs. I like writing ll the stories I have read when I was a child myself. So some of the stories I heard, I did not know the origin. Wish can help you to get the information. :) Anyway, please enjoy the stories I write in the blog.

Hi Glenda
It is so interesting to talk to other storytellers and find that we have similar situations to deal with.
It's time to go to bed but I am trying to get my props together for a story called the 'The Kiss that missed" by David Melling, I think I will use my living puppet called Billy to play the part of the knight, I have just found my sons knight dressing up outfit that looks great on him.
The wolf puppet must has run away I will have to look for him tomorrow!!!

Speak to you soon
