I will keep my fingers crossed for an oli strike...I have never been to America.
Apart from Youtube, why not have a simple storytelling competition? Foeget the play for a bit and get them to tell a story with interest...maybe for an "invited" audience...this will give it gravitas. Think about body posture, eye contact, storylines, voice projection and quality, pauses....and building the atmosphere. Hope this helps.
Ah...well I am in the middle of the UK so can't quite pop over to see you and help....unless your place has a vast budget and can fly me out?....no???...hee hee. There must be some storytellers near you....none on this site?
If not, get on Google or Youtube and see if you can track down some film. American tellers are far more attracted to being recorded than we Brits!!
It's always great to see teachers who realize the importance of storytelling. There are 2 groups here specifically education related, but don't stop there, we're now over 1600 members with blogs, the forum & other groups to help you in your networking here.
