What a great site PS has become and what a great community of tellers. Forgive me for being so late in greeting you. I don't know how I missed you at the beginning and recently my heart decided to throw a little surprise party at the emergency room... not a heart attack just Pericarditis (non-lethal... only painful condition). I am recovering nicely, was able to go ahead and get married and move. So you might forgive my late greeting. Hope you join some of the groups... mine will pick back up as I get more settled into our new routines. Anyway... welcome to PS and I hope you learn to love it and this wonderful collection of tellers as much as I do.
Tom here:
Ruth Fraser [San Francisco Meeting] and I are co-leading the Becoming a Storyteller workshop at the FGC Gathering this year. It is my third time leading it and her second, but our first together. Sue and I did the first one before she married Benji.
They [Sue & Benj] will be on the 09 Gathering Committee with you.
I understand about the changes you're making, about not throwing the good stuff out, about going ahead and doing it yourself, rather than drain yourself continually pleading/trying/exhorting others to do what they ought to be thrilled to have an opportunity to do, etc.
I can imagine what a 'fun time' you're having!
I'm 60-65 miles up the road from Austin - been here 30+ years, so it's pretty much 'home."
Taking off for Austin shortly to visit my sister today - she lost her adult daughter 2-3 yrs ago, and it's still a nightmare on her birthday...
Overcast, windy, misting here right now - not the best driving weather, but it could surely be worse. Better get with it and give myself more than enough time to deal with any traffic that decides to show up, so I'll sign off for now -
Hope you're having a great day - Please keep me posted -
Just been reading about you . . . and your story, and your mission, and your spirit all touched and moved me, and, so, I am writing to say that I am pulling for you and would like to be your friend.
I'd like to be kept up to date on how, and what, you're doing - and what I might be able to do here in Central Texas to contribute in a significant way.
That's about it, for now. Just wanted to let you know.
OH! Also, I find it incredible that you were 'second' on the roll here at PF - were you in the same room with Dianne when she put this thing together? Longtime friends? I'm proud that I'm #7 on the roll of more than 225 now (3rd male), see, 'cause that shows how intuitive/perceptive/sensitive/'ahead of my time,' so to speak - I am...to get in early on a really good thing; so, I'm figurin' if you are 2nd, behind only the founder, that perty much makes you a genius . . . right? Yeah, that's what I thought....so, congratulations!!
