Hi, Love --
It's great to hear about young storytellers in Europe getting organized. You might want to connect with the New Voices group of our National Storytelling Network -- an informal but very active group of younger tellers. Contact people a...
This is a place where storytellers can share their favorite tellable versions of public domain stories. You may include notes, sources, telling tips, and interesting anecdotes about the story. Happy Tales to You!
Kevin, are you a member of the National Storytelling Network? NSN has a Discussion Group of storytellers who work internationally -- a very active and responsive and helpful group -- who could give you good advice. The web site is www.storynet.org...
Storyteller, folklorist, oral historian, teacher, writer, coach -- Jo specializes in creating stories about northern New England, in service of her vision of a world that welcomes without fear the often surprising, often quirky gifts of each person.
Right now (2008) Jo is serving as Chair of the National Storytelling Network, a position she accepted because of her belief in the potential of a national organization to advocate for storytelling and to serve a wide variety of people involved in different aspects of the storytelling movement. She'd be glad to hear suggestions about the ways NSN can be of better service to the professional tellers who belong to this site.
I so want to get to know you. I was fortunate enough to be one of the KY Showcase tellers this year at the NSN conference. I would like to become more actively involved with NSN. Maybe you can give me some advice as how to do so?
If you're headed to Jonesborough for the National Storytelling Festival in October, you can kick off a great weekend with NSN's all-star National Story Night concert on the eve of the Festival, Thursday, October 2, at 7:30 pm in the Library Tent behind the Jonesborough Visitors Center.
Here's the line-up: Diane Ferlatte, David Novak,Barbara Freeman, Gayle Ross, Bobby Norfolk, Faye Wooden (Jonesborough Storytelling Guild), and Rixon Lane (National Youth Storytelling Showcase Grand Torchbearer)!
All these splendid tellers have donated their astonishing talents to benefit NSN's Grant Program. Please thank them! --
and come to National Story Night! Tickets ($15 adults; $10 students and seniors) can be ordered from the Jonesborough Visitors Center, 1-866-401-4223, or purchased in Jonesborough at the Visitors Center or at the tent.
Please consider (even if you can't be at the concert in person) buying a ticket in honor of the memory of a departed teller. We'll put a sign on the seat honoring that person. Just order the ticket, and then send a message about your memorial gift to Karin Hensley (karin@storynet.org).
Hi Jo;
Thanks for all the hard work you did at the NSN conference. It was good to finally meet the faces of all those people I have met online. Keep up the good work. I for one appreciate it.
Hey Jo-
You don't know me buttttttttttttttt-----------I so enjoyed your story about two years back at Northlands!
My belly STILL hurts from laughing!! lol :-)
All the best at NSN conference this year!
Debra
I met you at Dot's at Jonesborough in 2006- I think my snoring drove you to the basement! Hope you are well, and you seenm to be busy with NSN. Well done!
Jo just a note to say thanks for all you do for NSN, LANES, and MOOSE.
I beleive the forums here for discussion would benifit NSN's outreach as well as NSN could support the growth of ideas by offering topics covered here at the National Conferences.
When NSN and local groups encourage their members to participate in soical Network groups like this one then we all grow stronger through knowledge.
Greetings. I know you must be very busy, but I wonder if you wouldn't consider joining our group Applied Storytelling: the Power of Story. You active participation would be welcome, and I am sure all of us would benefit from your knowledge and experience. Best wishes. STEVE
Just wanted to let you know that we got our next round of grants submitted - I appreciate the encouragement you gave me at the Timp Conference. We are excited for the next year (assuming we get granted!)
