Professional Storyteller is a network for people who work in the field of oral storytelling. Please write a brief paragraph about your work.
Joanna Demarest has been telling stories to children and adults for over 20 years. It all started when after reading every book on her daughter’s bookshelf, multiple times, she wanted something new so she started creating fresh stories of her own. This passion for sharing her stories has been fueled by her sixteen moves within the US and overseas. Joanna specializes in American & Historical Tales, Southern Tales, Storytelling Workshops, Nature and Campfire Programs and her own unique Ladybug Stories. She loves taking well known stories and shaping them so that the listener can “see” the story from the characters perspective.
I have a feeling it will take a while for me to find everything here and to get involved. As it turns out we just found out that we are moving to just outside of Pittsburgh, PA and so I will be a bit out of touch for a while. Once we are settled I will have lots of time to explore all of the groups.
Storytell is another great way to talk with our storytelling family. It's often more active, but here you can find groups segmented out to match your interests, read their past discussions, also use the archive of the forum by using the search box for the topics you want, as well as the great videos, photos and blogs members post. The Events and birthdays round out ways to both publicize your work and stay in touch with other members, many of whom are on both Storytell and PS.
Looks like your many specializations will help you find a lot in the groups, various blogs, and forum discussions. I keep hoping someday we'll also have a Nature Group. Think about it and enjoy getting to know the network here.
