Thanks for the query. Glad to hear you will be coming to Ireland. You first port of call should be www.storytellersofireland.org which should have a listing of all storytelling activity around the country. There are story groups in Galway, Dublin, Cork and Belfast so you should be able to catch a few of them.
Story Night in Galway is on the first tuesday of the month so I think that falls on August 4th. I may not be hosting it as I fly out to FEST 09 the next day. But it is a great gathering.
I am not totally sure on the other dates of other groups but you should find all details on there. There are storytellers scattered across the country and you should be able to meet up with some of them. Drop me an email directly and I can point you in the right directions. I would be more than happy to meet up for a cup of tea and chat when you are in Galway. Contact me on email@example.com
I will be away with work for some of August, so get in touch with dates as soon as you can.
I look forward to it!

Hi, Joseph - haven't seen you since hearing your tale at Tell Me a Story... and think I caught one of your tales at Northlands. The first time I met you I was still in public education and getting ready to retire and start telling tales full-time. I was so in awe to meet so many storytellers including yourself that I think I failed to say more than two words to anyone. That was my first time being able to hang with other tellers. Up to then all my telling was done in schools without my ever being able to spend more than a few minutes talking to anyone else who told stories. Please don't let any future meetings go without introducing yourself to me. I am enjoying all my discussions with so many new friends. Hi Joe, It was great meeting you in Saskatoon...and having the chance to share one of your stories. I was spellbound! As you probably know by now, we (SC-CC) are meeting again in Victoria in 2009. It would be wonderful to have you - and other American friends - join us again. Take care. Cheers. Kathy
What a great site PS has become and what a great community of tellers. Forgive me for being so late in greeting you. Recently my heart decided to throw a little surprise party at the emergency room... not a heart attack just Pericarditis (non-lethal... only painful condition). I am recovering nicely, was able to go ahead and get married and move. So you might forgive my late greeting. Hope you join some of the groups... mine will pick back up as I get more settled into our new routines. Anyway... welcome to PS and I hope you learn to love it and this wonderful collection of tellers as much as I do.
