Professional Storyteller is a network for people who work in the field of oral storytelling. Please write a brief paragraph about your work.
I started telling stories at my dinner table as a child and became a professional storyteller in 1989 when I moved to Los Angeles. Telling stories and teaching storytelling workshops to audiences of all ages is my passion. My stories come from multicultural sources, my own life and my imagination and I also sing and play the saxophone, ocarina and nose flute. I tell many Jewish stories that come from Eastern Europe, Jewish texts, my Jewish childhood and my time living in Israel. I am fluent in Hebrew and love to teach Hebrew words in my stories.
I just returned from my first international storytelling tour in Asia: China, S. Korea and Hong Kong in 2016 and it was amazing! I have authored a number of original stories that appear in anthologies and I recorded two CD’s of stories and music that you can find on my website karengolden.com.
I am currently an artist in residence at two schools and the founding director of Creative Learning Place (creativelearningplace.com), a learning center for home-schooled students where I teach storytelling and public speaking. I am very passionate about homeschooling and I write a blog on education.
I am always interested in learning and growing as a storyteller and look forward to being in touch with all of you!!
