How to institutionalize/professionalize oral stories?

Hello friends,

Although my country has a rich repository of oral stories, there has never been such thing as "professional storytelling or professional storytellers" until now.

Due to globalization and change, stories and their telling in our land is fast vanishing.

I wonder how storytelling can be institutionalized in a situation like today especially in a developing country like ours? Please advise.

Thank-you.

Hi Lingchen,

I love your story about the prostrating man.

How can stories be preserved? By you preserving them! You may be interested in my project. Since childhood, I have collected stories from Eastern European refugees and immigrants. Interviewing our elders on tape is important. Writing their stories down. I see you already have offers of help on this site. Keep going!
