At the risk of "shameless self-promotion", my Jan. blog at <http://www.StorytellingResearchLoiS.com> about "History as seen by the 'average' person" is an idea that might appeal to some of us as we have two related groups, The Civil War and also By the…

Heads Up if you are telling as a freelance storyteller!
I'm a member of Freelancers Union & definitely recommend it for a variety of reasons (continuing ed., insurance, & other resources). They currently have a Twitter discussion about independent workers not getting paid – how to avoid getting stiffed by clients, what to do if it happens to you, and how we can work together to protect each other. Did you know…

Thanks Lois....this whole writing thing started from a local Memoir Writing class given by the local Adult Ed. program. Never thought it would go this far but I find myself writing quite a bit and even selling some stories. Latest is a book, written with a class-mate, called Desert Journeys. I am a big fan of the southwest deserts, Ever read Jack Ruby's Kitchen Sink?

Hi Lois, and thanks for your warm welcome. I must confess I don't exactly know what we are expected to post in the group. Stories, legends, other? You also said that it could also help locate contacts as I travel. I'll be going back to Belgium next saturday. What I am supposed to do then? Sorry for these "silly" questions, but I'd very much like to get involved as much as I can (which might not be enough, but...), and I sincerely don't know where to start. Have a nice WE.
James P. Lewis said… Thank you for the welcome, Lois. I first got turned on to storytelling in business based on the work of Milton Erickson, who was the model for NLP. I've been using the method for 32 years, and I can always tell that people get far more from my stories than they do from straight lecture. I'll check out the Stories for Business group. Warm regards, Jim
Dear Lois,
