I tell Stories from Around the World and Back Through Time.
- My large supply of stories permits programs on most topics. Stories may use sign language, music, puppets or dance with programs for all age levels. Among my reenacting is a woman who grew up on an Underground Railroad station, family Civil War activity, and was a farmer's widow -- other historical aspects covered: pioneer MI, the War of 1812, schools, life 100 yrs. ago, Victorian times and the 1950s. My storytelling supports reading in many ways as well as tailoring it to fit thematic programs. I also teach basic American Sign Language & "baby sign" as well as telling in voice and sign.
- While most of my storytelling has been in Michigan, I have told in other states, the territory of Puerto Rico, plus Canada, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and St. Kitts.
- Starting in 1970, I have roughly 40 years of storytelling experience. Until the autumn of 2006, this was combined with librarianship when I was accepted into the MI performing arts touring directory. I left Mount Clemens Public Library (where I was in charge of Children's Services) for full-time storytelling. My current listing with MI Arts & Humanities Directory was renewed & runs through 2015.
- Because my storytelling frequently requires research, my blog Storytelling + Research = LoiS covers a wide variety of topics & shares some of my work to help others know more.
- I've recently added Michigan's "Fighting Fifth" Civil War Infantry to post the Detroit newspaper articles about this regiment at the pace in which relatives could follow their publishing 150 years ago.
- My website hosts Michigan Storytelling.Org as I have a passion for supporting storytelling, which includes storytelling organizations. I founded Mt.C. Raconteurs & North Oakland County Storytellers, serving their 1st 2 yrs. as president. It also led me to the joy of serving as an Assistant Administrator here.

Looking Beyond
There's a need for social networking among the storytelling family beyond here. My own state of Michigan has seen paid opportunities for storytelling, its storytelling groups, & even our state's population decline. While a Group could easily be started here (international groups are very active here), not everyone loving storytelling in Michigan feels comfortable on a network aimed at the "Professional Storyteller" even though this network welcomes beginners to storytelling.
