Hello Lynne,

It will be nice to get to know you! I am on my way home form the Storytellers of Canada conference which was held in Victoria, BC Canada. We drove from Ontario Canada and driving home through the States. I am in Oacoma SD - will follow up when I get home in about 4 days or so. I am a fond teller of musical stories and songs which I feel also heal - all stories are therapeutic in some way, even if they make is laugh, "eh?" (interjecting Canadianism)

Hi Lynne, I am happy to be your friend! I love your quotes on your site. I also believe music heals the soul. I was in a world music choir (A Capellago) in Christchurch, New Zealand. We sang a capella, as well as with rhythm and drums. We sometimes sang songs similar to your wood vibe piece. Love it!
Cheers,
Katrina

Your one-woman show 'Dark Matter' sounds fascinating. If only there was a way for us in other parts of the world to experience it. I wish I had a Star Trek transporter.

Hi Lynne,

Thanks for adding me as your friend. I love your wood vibes piece. I'm enjoying the different parts of this forum very much - I keep finding more layers, and following links and meandering through the forum that way is fascinating.

Cheers,

About Me:
Story stimulates the mind and sparks the imagination. Story heals us. Story excites us. Story motivates us to action. When we listen to stories, we travel to those places in our own psyches where we find ourselves in the stories. Trust the story; it will nourish you like nothing else. I believe we become the story that we hear and tell, submerging the truth of each story deep in the core of our being. I love that quote from Harold Goddard, the author of The Meaning of Shakespeare, “The destiny of the world is determined less by the battles that are lost and won than by the stories it loves and believes in.” Yes, indeed.

Just finished this project and I'd love to know what you think of it. Like you, I'm a storyteller, but I have an eclectic mix of other things that I do. The easiest way to explain it, might be to say that I put left-brain and right-brain skills on equal footing, motivating people of both minds to collaborate. Story is the common denominator for all of my work. This website is an attempt to bring story to the forefront and let the world know what I have to offer.

The title of Lynne Duddy's one-woman show is "Dark Matter," and it takes awhile, sitting in the dimness, to realize the full impact of this play on words.

Duddy, a gentle woman with a whispery voice, is a professional storyteller, and when she invited me to see her show, I wasn't sure what to expect.

Generally, we think of storytelling as something that takes place in the hush of libraries and involves entertainin… Continue

Portland Story Theater presents "dark matter" an evening with Lynne Duddy

Don't miss this opportunity to experience a tapestry of voice, image, and musical soundscape, with Lynne Duddy and special guests, a'cappella singers Emily Post. Part science, part mystery, part cosmic joke, dark matter delves into the push and pull of the universe, exploring stuff that we can’t see but is definitely there, we think…

Blogs, Social Networks, and Storytellers

[submitted to the Seattle Guild and Portland Guild newsletters]

People are hungry for connection. No doubt that’s one of the reasons that you’re involved with storytelling because you recognize this need in our society, in the world. Maybe we are living in the digital dark ages, but then again maybe there is something really valuable in technology that can support our efforts as storytellers to help people connect with one another.

Maybe it’s generational. Many people are drawn to story… Continue
