Profile Information

Professional Storyteller is a network for people who work in the field of oral storytelling. Please write a brief paragraph about your work.
Marilyn searched for and found her soul in stories and has since been using stories to heal. She is a poet, writer and storyteller for the hurt child in us all. Her stories have taken her across the tropical and outback lands of her home country, Australia. She has told stories in remote aboriginal towns and thriving metropolis's; in renal units, in nursing homes and child care facilities. A librarian by nature and vocation she is happiest when surrounded with fact and fantasy. Marilyn has won awards for her poetry, her children's stories and her adult stories and is most proud of her King of the Liars title. A mother and new grandmother she is a survivor of domestic violence, the death of her eldest son, divorce, and the heartache that lead to an early heart attack. Her CD “The Nag Hag Bites Back” is a sometimes funny, sometimes tearful look at the life of the crone.

Hi Marilyn, No compulsions here! Dip a toe or any darn thing!?! One of the reasons I like the social networking etc is I can go away for days, weeks etc and just catch up when I feel like it. Same as I turn OFF my mobile phone when I don't wish to be contacted. We have more control than some would have us believe. Best wishes, Chloe. :)

G'day & welcome, Marilyn!
As someone who was a long-time librarian (& still substitute)I welcome you as part of my own "clan." While still a librarian I spent 2 years getting to know the story resources of Oz & fell in love with your land. I'd love to have the resources to finally visit the land & storytellers I got to know at a distance. Still, networking online is powerful & I hope you will find it so here. We even have a new Group, Storytellers in Australia.
Enjoy it here, Marilyn, & let this network help you!
