Mark Binder is an author, a storyteller, and a nice guy.
His novel, The Brothers Schlemiel was serialized weekly in print for two years, and was just published in an illustrated hardback edition from JPS. Mark's most recent story collection, A Hanukkah Present, was named as a finalist/runner-up for the National Jewish Book Award for Family Literature. More than 200 of his stories for young and old have been published in magazines, anthologized in books, and used on standardized tests. His Bedtime Story Book collection is a multigenerational masterpiece now in its seventh edition.
Mark is an award-winning recording artist and storyteller. He performs at festivals, theaters and other venues around the United States for adults, families and young people. His educational performances in school and library settings draw raves from students, faculty, administrators and parents.
He is the founder of the American Story Theater, and has taught a college course in “Telling Lies” at the Rhode Island School of Design.
He holds a third degree black belt and teaches and practices Aikido, the martial art for peace. In his spare time he bakes bread and makes pizza.
He lives in Providence, RI with his sweetheart and three children.
