I am a Spanish teacher and storyteller. I've been a storyteller all my life but got serious about it when I became a Spanish teacher and started using stories to teach language. I've been teaching for thirty years and telling stories professionally for close to twenty. I've done lots of workshops on using storytelling to teach language skills.
I enjoy telling folktales in English, Spanish or both, and also tell a few personal narratives. I like to play the spoons and do some pieces written with rhythm and rhyme, the language acquisition thing coming in again.
I've recently become involved in coaching young storytellers and really enjoy that work. I've been on the boards of state and local storytelling organizations in Texas and was greatly involved in the first ten years of the Texas Storytelling Festival.
Welcome to the family. It looks like you have a lot of fun telling. I hope you catch up with my friend Mary Lee Sweet here on PS who also plays the bones.
I hope you learn to love this site as much as I do. There are lots of good things to do and learn here. check it out... add to the conversations... upload your photos and audio files... don't be a stranger... I can't tell if that is a puppet or not... if you are a puppeteer, you might already know Lona Bartlett. She is a great lady and a member of PS and she holds a conference each year for Puppeteers... a must know person if you are into puppets.
Hey there! Welcome to the gang! This has been a wonderful site -- loads of information and fantastic people. And now you've made it even better now!
Hugs,
Peggy
"I like to play the spoons...." - music to my ears, MaryAnn, music to my ears (how many folks will tell you that - and MEAN it?)
Glad to see that you've made it to this remarkable spot.
