I've performed as a storyteller-singer, in both English and French, since 1977. I've been featured at events throughout the U.S., as well as in Canada, France, Austria, New Zealand, Ireland, England, Poland, Brazil, and Costa Rica. I received the National Storytelling Network's Circle of Excellence Award in 1999. After living in Virginia for many years, I returned to my home state of Maine in 1998, and I now live in Portland.
Hey Michael, thanks for that. I hope the road is being kind to you adn the stories are flowing fast and furious. I still remember clearly the Elephant Sandwich story on cape told entirely in French. Delicious! Slán, Clare
Bonjour Michael,
How is your "Beautiful Game" show going??? Are you going to record it so we can see/hear it in the Pacific NW??? Better yet, are you going to tour it around the country and perform it here in Portland??? I would really love to see it!
your friend and fan,
Laurent.
Hey Michael! What's shaken. I've made my way over from Illinois to Texas now I'm in New Mexico. I volunteer at the KUNM radio and the host for the Children's Hour is playing Rainbow Tales Too faithfully! Good to see you on the network. Are you still in Canada? We live in New Mexico and I pressed the issue for my son to take spanish. He's a wonderful and humorously delightful rebel...he took french instead.
Michael,
Years ago, back when NSN was still called NAPPS, I took one of your storytelling workshops in Jonesborough. At the time, I went by my former married name of Debbie Rauch. Your workshop was a wonderful experience. The think I recall the most was when you demonstrated for us how we could take each other's feedback at the end of our performance. You placed a pen in the middle of our circle. You stated that our comments are like gifts that we offer. Once we offer our gifts, we should release all ownership of that gift or of the need to have the teller accept rather than reject our comments. As a receiver of our comments aka gifts, the teller had the choice of gratefully accepting the gift, thoughtfully thinking about the gift without indicating whether we will accept or reject it, and politely rejecting the gift. I felt that demonstration was extremely empowering. It also, as I think about it, was a wonderful life lesson.
So thank you again for being such a wonderful teacher and coach.
Have a wonderful day!
Best Wishes,

Welcome.
I can barely keep up with my own e-mail, so I won't be a reliable correspondent on this site. All the best,
Michael

That was a fine conference and lovely visit with the Brontes.
Hope all's well with you.
All the best,
Michael
We met in Hebden Bridge, UK at the Working Stories Conference and then spent a delightful morning in Haworth exploring the hometown of the Brontes!
Cheers
