I grew up in eastern Kentucky hearing, telling and writing stories. My teachers of stories were Master Storytellers from Appalachia. I used to have a 'real' job in teaching but started my own performing and teaching arts business, SpoonWood Productions. I have been working as a literary artist and storyteller professionally for over 20 years as well as providing professional development for educators on Storytelling Across the Curriculum, Whole Brain Teaching With the Arts, and Portfolio Writing with the Jack Tales. I love the arts and I love teaching!
Jonatha,
I don't get to this site very often. I just don't have time to keep up with all the internet sites - I do try to look at my facebook page several times a week.
I do have a volumn 2 of Jack Tales out and getting ready to record another. I have a CD of Haint tales coming out in February. I look forward to reading your book.
Will you be at the KSA conference in November?
Hi Octavia,
Glad you like the pictures. I wrote you here 2 days ago, forget to hit Add, and lost it. I was out of time. I was saying how it has been much too long since we were at KSA events and seeing you and all our great KY friends. I love to catch up on your latest Jack Adventures! Do you have any new books, CD's? (maybe I should cruise around this page of yours.
My book "Team Up! Tell In Tandem! should be published in April. That has consumed a lot of my time. We also have some very nice storytelling jobs this Winter-Spring. Hope all is well, Jonatha

I saw a wonderful article about you in Kentucky Teacher!! You go girl!!!
Ain't you something! I was very pleased to see it and the very favorable article. Congradulations!
I listened to your CD that I bought at the conference. It's great! I love the story of Jack and the magic sack! You are a great teller :) It was nice meeting you!
Glad you are on board. Again - your performance at the NSN National Showcases was brilliant. I have heard Jack Tales before and they always left me yawning and looking for an exit from the room - but you, my dear, I could listen to all day. Great telling.
Hi Octavia, Good to see you on this site. Like the photos. Say, it is about time we ran into each other again. I love to hear some great Jack Tales! Jonatha
