I am still here. Got over colon cancer. I finally finished college and got my doctorate in Educational leadership. I am a published author now. My book is called Grandma Honey's Storytelling Hour. I am presently working or trying to work with parents and children on bullying, something I have tried to do years ago. I guess they are taking it serious now. Some parents are taking their children out of school because of the bullying. It is terrible I tell you, something has to be done and it…See More

Professional Storyteller is a network for people who work in the field of oral storytelling. Please write a brief paragraph about your work.
I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education, BA in Sociology, Masters in Education and Ph.D in Educational Leadership. I enjoy telling stories to all ages of people. My stories are eclectic and I love seeing children interact with me during the storytelling. My stories come from a list of my experiences in life (education, work, and plain life). I get my inspiration from nature itself. Just viewing the sky, animals, or even people motivate me to write stories to tell.
I have told stories in schools, assistant living centers, and at the Jackie Torrance Story Fest. I also attending a storytelling event at the Virgina Beach Funk Fest this year. I go where ever stories need to be told. The stories I tell even blend in with schools curriculum. My stories help students who are struggling to read; learn to enjoy reading again.

Hello, its nice to hear from you again. I have not been on this site for a while myself. I have been so busy trying to get places to tell my stories and school work. It seems if though our library, schools and other places do not have the funds for me to tell stories. I have been trying to get in on programs in and out of town. It is so expensive, especially when you don't have the money to attend.

Grandma Honey,

Hello, it has been quite sometime since I've long on to the site and it is so lovely to see your photos sharing stories with the children. The last few months have been filled with the sharing of stories and getting ready for an upcoming exhibit. Again, the pictures are just lovely. Continue to share wonderful stories! Angie

Greetings Grandma Honey
I enjoyed looking at your pictures with the children. You appear to be very animated and I know that the children really appreciate it.

Well, I believe in the power of story to transform lives - for the better! In fact, I am doing my graduate studies on this topic. This group is for those who share similar views and provides a venue for expressing them! So, you are welcome to "Applied Storytelling: the Power of Story." To join the group simply click on "Groups" at the top of your home page, then click on the "Applied Storytelling" icon (a nice cup of cappuccino!), then click on "Join this Group." I look forward to having you with us! Best wishes to you. STEVE

Patricia "Grandma Honey",

I was delighted to learn about this wonderful network of storytellers! In terms of storytelling engagements, have you thought about an audition with Young Audiences? I work with that organization with a group of other tellers here in Wichita, KS. Do you belong to many art organizations in your community or surrounding area? Just a thought. I enjoyed viewing your photos and by the way, I do like the name that your grandson gave ya!
