Greetings Grandma Honey
I enjoyed looking at your pictures with the children. You appear to be very animated and I know that the children really appreciate it.

Well, I believe in the power of story to transform lives - for the better! In fact, I am doing my graduate studies on this topic. This group is for those who share similar views and provides a venue for expressing them! So, you are welcome to "Applied Storytelling: the Power of Story." To join the group simply click on "Groups" at the top of your home page, then click on the "Applied Storytelling" icon (a nice cup of cappuccino!), then click on "Join this Group." I look forward to having you with us! Best wishes to you. STEVE

Patricia "Grandma Honey",

I was delighted to learn about this wonderful network of storytellers! In terms of storytelling engagements, have you thought about an audition with Young Audiences? I work with that organization with a group of other tellers here in Wichita, KS. Do you belong to many art organizations in your community or surrounding area? Just a thought. I enjoyed viewing your photos and by the way, I do like the name that your grandson gave ya!

Profile Information

About Me:
I am a former second grade school teacher, President of the Women of Power at my church, pastor and Community Specialist in tutoring after school program for children and their mothers. I love telling stories, I took after my father, he told plenty of stories about Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox etc. Its hard to get performance around here. I want to try and write a grant to get my storytelling really off the ground. Some people say I remind them of the late Jackie Torrence in telling my own stories; I have not told any of her stories due to copyright reasons. Everywhere I go people ask me if I know any of Jackie's stories. I tell them yes. but I haven't gotten permission to them yet and ask them how they liked my stories. I love Jackie Torrence, but I have my own Idenitity as Grandma Honey, I got that name from my frist and only grandson. :). Yes, I love telling stories; when I was teaching to get the children to do their work I said that I would tell them a story when they finish their work, it worked everytime. I went back to school to get my master's but I am up against the younger students coming out of college (you know what I mean?) Any way I am blessed to be able to tell stories to the nursing homes, assisted living centers, schools and any where I can. All in all I really enjoy telling stories and meeting new people.
