Profile Information

About Me:
Ever since a sophomore in high school, the stage has beckoned Rachel Hedman. Although her mother said Rachel was a storyteller as soon as she opened her mouth, Rachel considered herself a shy person.

Rachel has progressed since her National Forensics League days in 1994 when her first telling had a scrambled plot, mixed-up voices, and a forgotten ending. Upon this failure she wondered if she should continue, but she decided to prove to herself that she was a great storyteller. By senior year, she received 5th place at the Wisconsin State Tournament.

When Rachel entered college, she saw storytelling as a possible career and she chose her major accordingly: Communications Marketing.

Although she graduated from college in 2001, the BYU Storytelling Club she jumpstarted still provides service throughout the campus and the community. Upon moving to Fresno, California she joined the Voices of the Valley Storytelling Guild, and thus provided the opportunity to assist as a Board Member of the National Youth Storytelling Olympics. Eventually, she was invited on the Board for the Youth Storytelling Special Interest Group and spearheaded the creation of the storytelling merit badge for the Boy Scouts of America. To add to the merit badge venture, she became Co-Chair for Youth, Educators, and Storytellers Alliance (YES!).

Join Voice--A Storyteller's Lifestyle with blog posts every 1st and 15th of the month about storytelling trends in business, marketing, and honing the craft.

I'm sorry, Denis. I was unclear. I had referred Rachel to a gentelman here in AZ who might be able to create this process with her. My note should have gone directly to her and not caused confusion here on the board. I apologize.

I like your thoughts in response to my comment (a response to David) a lot. Do you think we could start formulating any more concrete ideas about it? I can't give it too much effort for at least one more year (the whole school thing), but maybe we could start brainstorming some basic forms/schools and start formulating questions we need to ask about the tellers style...just a thought.

Let me know if you have any thoughts. Keep it hip and flipped.
