Our Joined Hands

We made the decision to be Artists, in spite of the many challenges, gladly.  We have lived, sacrificed in the name of art with few regrets.  But sickness doesn't respect art or artists.  This group is to help inform you of those of us who are facing very difficult days due to a major illness and provide an easy way for us to join hands to help them.  Our Joined Hands can make a difference.See More

What would you recommend reading for storytelling in the corporate or medical world

I have a friend who is doing a workshop for doctors on storytelling and she asked this question:  Do you have any recommendations of books that could be good recommended reading/a basis for storytelling in the corporate or medical world?  What are your thoughts?  And thanks.See More

Sometimes the Old is New

Hello, Everyone. I've been reading an old version of the Standard Dictionary of Folklore. It's really cool, because I'm learning so much that I hadn't thought of before. Today, I wrote down several books dealing with African proverbs. Books written a long time ago - late 1800's and early 1900's. As I was looking for where these books might be available I came across the website, which had 3 of these books online and for free. These wiill come in handy for adding some new (to me) but old items to my Storytelling Presentation on African STories. If you'd like a list of the books I found and where they could be found at, just let me know. Peace,

Hello Sheila,

What an interesting career you have! I would especially love to hear you tell about the women in Jesus' life.

Hey Shelia, Just a quick note to thanks for coming to see me in Norfolk. It did occur to me driving home that I completely forgot to tell my audience why I was telling wearing a hat. I try to never tell wearing a hat/visor so foks can better see facial expressions, but when I am under flourecesent lights, they give me awful migraines so I am stuck with geeky visor. I hope you had a good time anyway. Keep in touch, Anthony

Hello Shelia, Welcome to Professional Storyteller. I saw you lived in Hampton and wanted to say "Hi". I was actually born in Hampton, a few years ago, grew up in York County and now live in New Kent County, not far from Williamsburg where there is a storytelling group you may wish to consider joining. They are called WEAVERS OF THE WORD & they meet the second Tuesday of the month in the Williamsburg Library on Scotland St. Right now our membership is low, low low, a lot of folks have retired from telling or simply moved away. Sometimes it is just me and two other folks sitting around a table sharing stories. We do have 2 concert responsibilities a year, being Tellabration & First Night and you would be welcome to tell at both. Our next meeting is Sept 10 at 7pm, you are welcome, and if I don't see you there, I'll see you here. My best, Anthony Burcher
