So there is none of the spouting of memorised lines that I have seen in so many storytelling competitions.…

I believe...

For me stories are at the root of what it is to be human. Our lives are shaped by the stories we hear and tell; in fact life itself is an ever unfolding story.

Science is now telling us that we think in stories; our brain is hardwired that way. This is not surprising, as since the earliest times humanity has educated itself through storytelling. Storytelling has helped us pass on survival skills and values; build strongly bonded families and communities; learn how to live together in… Continue

Thanks again Sheila, for welcoming me in. It was such a stroke of luck to meet you, not the least because I had such a nice time listening to your stories. Hope to keep in touch and perhaps cross paths in Singapore one day!

Hi, Sheila,
I understand that you have done a "storytelling exchange" in Britain. can you please tell me how that was arranged, the mechanics of it, and how it worked? Glenna and i are interested and are in communication with a British teller who also is interested.

Yes Sheila. Just a shame we never had a chance to speak more. Hopefully we can change that next year. I am thrilled you had a great time here. We are very lucky to have Donald and the centre. Would be great to have you back again and also to have the opportunity to hear you live.

Hi Sheila, Thank you. After much thought I have decided to focus on Indigenous storytelling. I am connected and work in the Aboriginal community and know a few Elders who are great storytellers or who have cultural sharing to offer. Start small and grow from there. My stuff always goes on Vic Guild's blog. I have to keep up with this ring too. Cheers, Cindy-Lee
