Sondra Singer's Blog

Wel, this isn't exactly a regular blog, is it? :-)

It's been 3 months since my last post, but it's been busy. I just posted my original story/song, Kathy's Kargo in video form on my page here at Professional Storyteller. I recorded this back in August at a free concert in the park in which I was a participant. It is fairly self-explanatory if you listen to the intro. My first adult song! Anyway, I hope you enjoy Kathy's Kargo! It was shot with my little Flip Video camera, so the quality isn't fabulous, but you'll get the idea!

The… Continue

Concert Was Yesterday!

What a blast! Eight of us plus accompanists performed a wonderful little free concert in the park yesterday. My "story-song" didn't go quite as well as I rehearsed it or as I've performed it before, and the light was bad for my camera. Still trying to decide whether to post the video because I forgot the words to the first verse and had to laugh and stop before starting again! But, the second time I did it, I didn't like the story/opening as well. So, if you guys don't mind seeing me totally… Continue

Well, once every 4 months is...

...a "periodic" blog! I've been incredibly busy, not only as a performer, but also in my day job. So, I guess it's time for an update!

I had just been a singer, back-up singer and percussionist for the music performance class in which I was a participant back in March. That was whole bunches of fun!

After that, in April, Linda Jacobson from Boulder and I gave a new workshop on the power of story - the stories we tell ourselves that dictate how we react in everyday life, as… Continue

First Blog Ever!

I've been talking about blogging and social networking of late, but have never sat down to actually write anything. With all of the different things that I do, I could probably start a multitude of blogs - one for storytelling, one for singing and music, another for advertising and radio (my vocation during the day), one for politics, one for writing. Sigh...does anyone know how to clone?

For this blog, though, I will occasionally add things that I'm doing creatively in… Continue

Nice to meet you Sondra! It's great that you can incorporate music into your tellings. That is such a gift! I would love to be able to do that in the future (even if it's something simple). Keep up the great work!

Hi Sondra,

Thank you for the compliment. "The Instrument of Peace" is an original story that I wrote a few years ago and am now in the process of expanding from a 10+ minute story to a 60 min. collection of stories woven into that main story.

Hello Sondra. I am not a rabbi, although I can see how you might think so from the photo. I was telling a story at a Junior Congregation service last Rosh Hashanah, which is why I was in full synagogue 'regalia'. 'The Wine of Paradise' is a chasidic ghost story, which benefits from a lot of alarmed hand-waving....

Greetings, and welcome to Professional Storyteller. After looking at your profile, I wonder if you wouldn't be interested in joining the group Applied Storytelling: the Power of Story. We would love to have you and would learn a lot from your knowledge and experiences. Best wishes to you. STEVE

Dear Sondra:

Welcome to the site.

I have never heard about the Rocky Mountain Storyteller's Conference, which seems close enough for me to attend. Please tell me more.

You probably already know about the Timpanogos Storytelling Conference that happens the end of February.

I may have been that "random" person to invite you here. I have seen your name before though we have not officially met. I assumed that you would like this site.

Until we tell again,

Rachel Hedman

Just "met" Helen. You and Helen are two gorgeous ladies. I bet your audiences really fall in love with you two - the stories, the songs, the dynamic smiles... You have it all!
