Hi Sylvia, thank you for your lovely comments. Yes, we do have a New Zealand Guild of Storytellers; their website is www.storytelling.org.nz
However, it doesn't appear to be updated very regularly; I do belong, but don't appear on it yet.
At the Marlborough Farmers' Market, I am telling some traditional tales such as Stone Soup, Little Red Riding Hood and so on, with a Farmers' Market 'flavour'. For instance, I have some child helpers take on the roles of townspeople and think up things that we can add to our Stone Soup that are available at the Farmers' Market. I also use rhythm, rhyme and song for variety and to keep their interest up with shorter 'snappier' tales. I haven't 'told' to adult groups yet, only children.
Thank you for your interest.
How far are you from Chapel Hill? I will be down Oct 8,9,10,11 and was hoping to meet other tellers for coffee and a little swapping at some point. Know anyone in that area? It is beautiful there, I was in town in July to move my daughter and her husband there. find me at www.carolynstearnsstoryteller.com
