Such a great loss to us all - another library is gone. Stanley wasn't just good, he was a master and his heart was open. He knew the depths that storytelling can reveal and he wasn't afraid to immerse us in that. Stanley's voice was, according to sc…

Ludicrous position from Bottigheimer, as most of her colleagues seem to have thought too. Firstly the fact is that Cinderella is only superficially to do with rags-to-riches, and traditional forms of it, like All-Furs, are full of deeply profound sy…

Profile Information

About Me:
I discovered storytelling when I was in the circus and found all my trainers were cutting edge teachers of narrative performance. Since then I've trained hundreds of storytellers, using improvisational techniques, with my Wild Weekend courses. I founded, directed and performed with Wordweavers, a group combining storytelling and physical theatre, and ran the Bristol story circle for ten years. I love telling long, profound wonder tales or myths, and ingenious teaching tales.

I created the Storytelling FAQ and one of the largest storytelling resource sites on the web, in an effort to connect and encourage storytellers around the world. Now I coach small business professionals in using story and storytelling methods to improve their communication.

The Moment of Impact: How to Have Presence

I'm presenting a free teleseminar and discussion on this subject for story practitioners next Wednesday 8th April, and am really looking forward to it. It's hosted by the Worldwide Story Work ning forum, a parallel forum to this Professional Storyteller network. If you have any interest in applying storytelling to work it's a great community and you can join for free. And I'd love to hear you on the call. If you've not been on a teleconference before, it's easy - just call the phone number at 4p… Continue

Thanks for your message, Tim. We should indeed get our paths to cross, yes. I'd like that. I will be at Festival at the Edge this year, doing a bit of MC-ing and running one or two of the storyrounds. Are you going to be there this year? Otherwise, I'm sure we'll bump into each other sooner or later. Let's hatch a plan for it... Debs

Tim, I have just stumbled across you here and am well chuffed. Because...I wanted to thank you sincerely for your no-nonsense, bumbling-daydreamer-proof, clear and friendly Storyteller's FAQ. It is wonderous. I discovered it a couple of years ago when I started telling (or, rather when I realised that storytelling was in fact what I had indeed been up to all these years and decided to apply myself to it properly!). It was a godsend, a tonic and a bleedin' relief to find it. And now I've found you, and I can finally thank you for writing it. Thank You.

Hi Tim ,

I am a storyteller from India and I have been telling stories to children at Urban schools for the past 4-5 years . I will be visiting London in the first week of May and would like to meet some storytellers and maybe watch their performances . I shall be grateful to you if you could help me in getting in touch with a few of them ? Any possibility of meeting you ?

warm regards
Neeta

Ah, Tim, I've been away from the ning site for a while & didn't know you had joined it. Glad to see you here & on facebook! Would that I could find a way to introduce you to Tom. Tim & Tom. Trust me, it would be a fun combination.
As Kevin said, it's been too long since you've been able to be here in the states, but I understand.

Hi! My husband and I were going to come to England, but we're waiting for the exchange rate to be better. Maybe in a year or two. : )

Hope storytelling is going better in UK than it is in California right now - big budget crisis on, that is hitting schools and libraries hard.

Have a great holiday!

Thanks Tim, I will take you up on the invitation one of these days. Just in case you have a category for the longest running Storytelling class at the university level taught by one person -- I may be in the running as I am celebrating 20 years with that course this year!
