This may be a bit too late, but just thought you should hear another perspective. I am just finishing the program and have lived in Johnson City for a year and a half now. One member of the program came without a car. She had a difficult time - no...
I am an ETSU graduate student in Storytelling. My plans are to graduate soon and begin telling professionally to college audiences. I'm a photographer by profession and hope to expand my world through language and story.
I got to go to my first Boro Tellers meeting in forever on Friday. It was fun, with hot dogs and talk of the Haunted Murfreesboro project. I look forward to more like this. Thanks for the encouragement.
Are you back in Nashville yet?
I actually got to tell 2 stories (Jack & the Northwest Wind + Orpheus) at the Borotellers get-together at Uncle Dave Macon Days. It was exciting meeting new people, but I have yet to reacquaint myself with Diana yet. LOL
Diana would love to have more participants, so we shall see how things go. I plan to attend the next meeting and get more information about their next major event- Haunted Murfreesboro.
Are you staying in Johnson City while you are finishing your degree? That probably makes things easier. I spent my degree at UTK on-line, visiting Knoxville only a handful of times. It was really convenient, but distancing.
Do you have to take Comps, finish a thesis or both for ETSU? Last fall, when I finishing my degree, my life revolved around the Comps exam.
I would love to meet for coffee in Nashville. Just drop me an e-mail outside of here, if you would like to get together cunderdown at gmail. :)
Hey Valerie,
Oh good, Jette is still around. I was also involved in the 'Boro group for a while, but that was years ago.
I'm on the MTSU campus with my job, but I haven't made it over to the theatre dept. lately.... I just looked her up and it looks like she is still teaching. Perhaps I'll send her an e-mail. Thank you for the iniative.
Would you be interested in carpooling to a meeting sometime?
Hi, Valerie. I live in Nashville, too. Do you know if there is a local storytelling group in town? I seem to be seeing lots of people on this ning from Nashville.
