Profile

About Me:
I am an international creativity consultant who uses many stories and storytelling tools in his workshops, presentations and university courses and on rare occasion tells stories at local libraries.

In 1984 my late wife and I joined both the Southern Order of Storytellers and the National Association for the Preservation and Perpetuation of Storytelling (NAPPS) and began attending festivals and workshops in Jonesborough and throughout the southeast ever since.

Also as an amateur improv-er I have used storytelling techniques and games since 1990.

Welcome to this great site. I hope you enjoy it. I wonder, with all of your incredible experiences and insights, won't you consider joining the group Applied Storytelling: the Power of Story? Those of us in the group could really learn from you. Not only could you comment on what's there, but you could start some discussions of your own. Best wishes to you. STEVE

Thank you Buck, Diane and Tom for your immediate and warm welcomes.

Buck please take a look at my website and scan some of the creativity materials and courses.

Diane actually you can take some of my courses via handouts and ppts on my website and your can read one of my books: BROKEN CRAYONS.

I have been involved nationally and internationally with the creativity movement since 1978 when I first went to the Creative Education Foundation's annual CPSI-Creative Problem Solving Institute in Buffalo, New York. Now I attend creativity conferences around the US and the globe annually. For example I was in Singapore for the 20th American Creativity Association's conference, first one of theirs held outside of the US. I am the marketing director now for ACA. In March I was in Sarasota, Florida as part of the 5th Florida Creativity Weekend. In May I am one of the planners and organizers of the first ACE - Atlanta Creativity Exchange at Kennesaw State University (where SOS held the annual Winter Festival for a few years). In July I will be at Greenwich University for another creativity conference. Then in Toronto in September and in South Africa as part of the 14th ACRE and 4th Creativity in Education conferences.

My university course, done 5 times each year, is titled;

DEVELOPING CRE8NG COMMUNITIES IN YOUR WORKPLACE

It is the first of 7 courses for a master program for public safety officers. I have been doing that one since 1995 at Columbus State University and then 15 years prior to that once a year at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.

Stories and storytelling from fable to fiction to anecdotal (personal and professional) are part of all my work, whether as a keynote, seminar, workshop, training program.

Hey Alan

Let's talk about creativity... really on the phone. I am always interested in other peoples ideas about how the mechanics of it work. I have some ideas of my own and I would love to bouce them off of you. I am willing to be a sounding board as well... if you felt the need to talk something through.

What a great site this is... good Groups... lots of flexibility... good relevant discussions... fun videos and lots of great people... tellers interested in improving their skills and our mutual professionalism.

Welcome again... don't be a stranger
Buck

international creativity consultant...

Welcome, Alan!

About that top line....what IS that job?
And HOW does one get that job?

It sounds awesome - and I'm guessing it's almost as much fun as it sounds like it would be.

What are your university courses?

I look forward to your sharing your insights, counsel, experiences and various tales with the folks on this site; avail yourself of the multiple pages such as Video, Photo, Blogs, audiofiles, as well as the Main Page, Members Page, Forums, Groups, etc. - it (they) will hold you in good stead.

Glad you're with us - best wishes for continued fulfillment and success -

Sincerely,

Tom Taylor (Deep in the Heart of Texas)
